Our History <ul><li>In 1986 the Ontario Government created an initiative to give the residents of Northern Ontario improved access to College and University courses </li></ul><ul><li>Known as Contact North, they opened a variety of centers where residents could take literacy, high school, or college or university courses directly in their local community. </li></ul><ul><li>Today Contact North has 94 centers and serves over 5,000 students annually in Northern Ontario </li></ul>
  7. 8. <ul><li>Based on the success of Contact North, the Ontario Government funded the expansion of this service to the residents of Central, Eastern & Western Ontario called elearnnetwork.ca </li></ul><ul><li>As a publicly funded non-profit initiative, we opened 5 locations in 2007. </li></ul><ul><li> </li></ul><ul><li> Kincardine Madoc Orleans </li></ul><ul><li> Wallaceburg Hawkesbury </li></ul><ul><li>In 2009, we expanded with 12 new locations… </li></ul>Today’s Story 3 1 2 4 5

Four Key Points <ul><li>eLearning in some disciplines is now the preferred method of learning – especially in relation to business, nursing and other professional fields </li></ul><ul><li>eLearning makes learning possible for those at work or those who do not live close to a College or University – it’s all about accessibility, affordability and success </li></ul><ul><li>eLearning is highly participative – it’s not passive, but very interactive – lasting friendships come from online learning </li></ul><ul><li>eLearning is effective – in many studies eLearning has been shown to be (at worst) “no less effective” than traditional classroom studies and, in more recent times, “more effective” </li></ul>
