The Project <ul><li>Parents and mature age unemployed who: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>♣ are seeking new skills </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>♣ are seeking to upgrade skills to enhance their job prospects. </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Objective </li></ul><ul><li>Through this collaborative community project: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>establish the Alexandrina Community eLearning Centre Byte-On ; </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>promote awareness and benefits of computer and internet technology; and </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>offer electronic education tools and access to formal and leisure courses </li></ul></ul>Byte-on.org.au ……e-learning Target Group

Began to formalise ongoing relationship </li></ul><ul><li>Identified possible courses </li></ul><ul><li>Establish online communities and learning website </li></ul><ul><li>Developing demonstration CD-ROM due end of October </li></ul><ul><li>Launched the Project! </li></ul><ul><li>What we are up to now…! </li></ul><ul><li>Web site on line! </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Members joining </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>New communities forming </li></ul></ul><ul><li>Mentoring </li></ul><ul><li>Preparing CD Rom as introduction to eLearning and how online communities work </li></ul><ul><li>Preparing for SA eDayz, Regional Employment Forum and ALA Conference </li></ul><ul><li>Developing relationships with RTO’s with view to another partnerships </li></ul>

Some open and some private. </li></ul><ul><li>37 regular users with a further 120 through building our relationship with U3A. </li></ul><ul><li>Groups focus on events eg SA Rural women's Gathering, Leisure courses such as Belly Dancing and collaborative preparation of an anthology of local writers. </li></ul><ul><li>Funding of $29k for 8 months </li></ul><ul><li>Staffing level of ¾ time person </li></ul><ul><li>Mambo & Moodle – content management and learning management system in unison </li></ul><ul><li>Average visits per week </li></ul><ul><li>3 adult learners set to start formal course in Small Business Management. </li></ul>.… Next steps <ul><li>Work with community organisations to link in target group </li></ul><ul><li>Hold mini workshops </li></ul><ul><li>Offer a consultancy service on development & support of online communities and websites </li></ul><ul><li>… and much more! </li></ul>
