  1. 1. EJHS Media Center Library Orientation 2009-2010
  2. 2. <ul><li>You can check out books </li></ul><ul><li>Before School </li></ul><ul><li>After School </li></ul><ul><li>During Class, Break, Or Lunch (with teacher permission & hall pass) </li></ul>The library is open 7:30 – 3:30 on Monday, Wednesday & Thursday 7:55 – 3:05 Tuesday 7:30 – 3:15 Friday Any library closings will be announced on WCAT News and posted on library windows.
  3. 3. Circulation of Library Books <ul><li>You may check out two books. </li></ul><ul><li>Books are loaned for two weeks at a time. </li></ul><ul><li>Overdue fines of 5 cents per school day are charged for overdue books. You can recheck an overdue book. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>To search the library catalog for a book </li></ul><ul><li>Go to any media center computer and click on EJHS Library Search. </li></ul><ul><li>Go to the school website and click on EJHS Library Catalog. </li></ul>EJHS Library Media Center now has an OPAC .   5. 5. To Check Out a Book <ul><li>Select a book. </li></ul><ul><li>Take your book to a media assistant. </li></ul><ul><li>Tell the media assistant your name. They’ll need your last name and first name. </li></ul><ul><li>Sign the checkout log while the assistant checks the book out to you. </li></ul>
  6. 6. To Check In a Book <ul><li>Place book in drop box if you are finished reading it. </li></ul><ul><li>Bring book to a media assistant if you need to recheck it. We may not recheck a book to you unless you bring it to us. </li></ul>
  7. 7. General rules <ul><li>No candy or gum. </li></ul><ul><li>Sit unless checking out resources. </li></ul><ul><li>Talk quietly when you must talk. </li></ul><ul><li>No more than 4 students to a table. </li></ul><ul><li>Students who do not obey rules 1-4 will be asked to leave. </li></ul>
  8. 8. <ul><li>There are many materials available for you to use in the library </li></ul><ul><li>Scissors </li></ul><ul><li>Glue </li></ul><ul><li>Rulers </li></ul><ul><li>Colored Pencils, Markers, or Crayons </li></ul><ul><li>Hole Punches </li></ul>
  9. 9. Computer Use <ul><li>No more than 2 students per computer. </li></ul><ul><li>Do not use the Internet without Mrs. Senn’s permission. Only use the Internet for school research. </li></ul><ul><li>Always sign the Internet log before going online. </li></ul><ul><li>Do not change any settings on the computer. </li></ul><ul><li>Printing costs 5 cents for black-and-white pages and 25 cents for color pages. You may only use the printers for a school assignment. </li></ul>
