Developments Concerning EU Accession Period <ul><li>1) Main legislative alignments; </li></ul><ul><li>1994; By law on the production of plant and animal products by ecological methods (in the framework of 2092/1991/EC) </li></ul><ul><li>2004: Organic Farming Law (in line with 2092/1991/EC) </li></ul><ul><li>2005: By-law on the principles and implementation of organic farming (in line with organic farming law) </li></ul><ul><li>2010: Regulation o n Pr i nc i ples a nd Appl i cat i on o f Organ i c Agr i culture in compliance with the new EU Regulation no. 834/2007/EC and Organic Farming Law </li></ul><ul><li>2011: Regulation on amendments regarding the 2010 regulation </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>- Action Plan on Organic Food and Agriculture was adopted. </li></ul><ul><li>- Regarding trade; Turkey prepared a technical dossier and submitted it to the Commission to be included in the 3rd countries list of the EU. </li></ul>

  7. 7. <ul><li>Duration: 24 months (2005-2007) </li></ul><ul><li>Total budget: 1,260,000 € </li></ul><ul><li>The beneficiary: Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Livestock Production </li></ul><ul><li>Outputs: </li></ul><ul><ul><li>National and EU legislation on organic farming legislation were compared and recommendations were made for legislative alignment. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>An application was made for the inclusion of Turkey in the third country list, to enable the exportation of organic products to the EU. </li></ul></ul>

Outputs (cont’d) <ul><ul><li>The Organic Agriculture and Food Action Plan for Turkey was prepared and demonstration projects were implemented for different products in 5 provinces (İzmir, Düzce, Adana, Erzurum and Kütahya) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Recommendations were made for the administrative structure required for the implementation of the Organic Farming legislation. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>MoFAL staff was trained on organic farming policy, control and supervision, extension and advice, project management, organic farming, policy, database and web management and guidelines were prepared for the trainers. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Needs analyses were performed for information and communication. </li></ul></ul>
