Afghan IT Ministry Establishes Tech Incubator

Supporting entrepreneurs and establishing innovative new business is vital to the continued growth of Afghanistan's economy. In recognition of this, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology recently established a tech company incubator in collaboration with the World Bank. The initiative, which is called Ibtikaar, is managed by TechNation, a well-established Afghan tech consulting firm that concluded its application phase on Aug. 31.

Afghan IT Ministry Establishes Tech Incubator

  1. 1.  Supporting entrepreneurs and establishing innovative new business is vital to the continued growth of Afghanistan's economy. In recognition of this, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology recently established a tech company incubator in collaboration with the World Bank. The initiative, which is called Ibtikaar, is managed by TechNation, a well-established Afghan tech consulting firm that concluded its application phase on Aug. 31.
  2. 2.  Ibtikaar will provide aspiring IT entrepreneurs with a variety of resources to help them realize their business ideas and launch their own start-up companies. The aid offered to participants includes logistical support, facilities, and infrastructure, as well as access to mentors and advisors with experience in growing businesses in Afghan markets. This support is to be provided to entrepreneurs free of charge.
  3. 3.  The program is structured to run two years and support up to 12 start-ups simultaneously. The objective of Ibtikaar is to launch a minimum of 10 self- sustaining IT businesses by the end of the incubation program.
