Solution Match [2018]. “The Solution Match service helped getting
information on the SMEs and following up with them, definitively facilitating
the life of AXA.
The service contributed to a better market reach. A lot of good candidates
were identified through the process so that it was difficult to choose between
the solutions at the end. Besides, the startups selected by eHealth Hub had a
very good profile.
The Solution Match gave the opportunity to AXA to really benchmark the
solutions and find the best candidates”.
When joining the call, AXA group was actively engaged in a transformation
from health payer to partner, through innovation, prevention and care.
Aligned with this ambition, AXA was looking to partner with digital health
SME(s) to implement one or more smoking cessation and nutrition &
wellbeing solution(s) at the global level. AXA had some startups on their
radar already before to start the Solution Match (SM) process and
approached some of them but was still looking for new and innovative
solutions in the two areas of smoking cessation and nutrition.

Hospital Bambino Gesù: in the search of monitoring solutions for paediatrics
Our experience with eHealth HUB was instrumental to demonstrate to
clinicians and researchers the possibility of developing solutions together
with startups starting from clinical and patient needs and choosing from a
large number of solutions.

Solution Match [June 2018 – May 2019]. “eHH helped the most with a
method suitable for the hospital case, with the capability to identify a high
number of candidates and solutions tailored to all our needs and
requirements.
The scouting and qualification of the startups definitively helped with
selecting the right candidates to start negotiating with. By the end of the
process, the hospital was ready to start a collaboration with two companies
both short and long term and develop a cocreated prototype with one of
them immediately in the following months of the service delivery ”.

The Bambino Gesù Children’s Hospital is the largest paediatric hospital in
Europe and integrates research and clinical activities. The hospital
participates in several international research networks. With a staff of almost
2,600 including physicians, researchers, nurses, clinical technicians and
office staff, the hospital treats and cares for a large number of children and
adolescents from all over the world. More than 2.000.000 healthcare
services are provided each year.

Hospital Bernal: in the search of telemonitoring solutions
Thanks to Solution Match we found 71 innovative solutions that fitted really
well with what we were looking for. This allowed us to talk to several of them
and finally select a partner to work with.

covered all the requirements we had regarding a telemonitorization system
for patients with medical video consultancy. For this, we have received a lot
of support from the eHealth HUB team who have filtered applications during
the selection process. It would have been impossible for me to contact all of
them one by one. Instead, I talked to the ones that were more aligned with
our needs.
Furthermore, Solution Match has helped us to define the best criteria to
select our potential partner, since they really made the effort to understand
which were our needs”.
We were looking for a digital health solution to remotely monitor low-
complexity chronic patients from their home. Those patients are typically
elderly people, physically and mentally well enough to live alone at home
but presenting one or several chronic diseases that would require regular or
continuous monitoring. Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD),
Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) and diabetes are the most common
conditions among these patients.

Hospital Bernal is the reference hospital in the Northwest of Murcia Region
(Spain). More than 200.000 patients have been assisted since its opening.

and continued after it. The main factors have been three. The first one
was affordability and budget. The second was maturity of the solution.

AXA PPP runs a health innovation programme that has 2 main objectives:
• To identify emerging and interesting health tech entrepreneurs and start-
ups either interesting to the general consumer, the public or to introduce
to their customer base either through their insurance products as part of
their proposition or through one of their retail business.
• From a media point of view, to engaging with the broader health tech
market and health tech innovators.

with nutrition and wellbeing. eHealth Hub network of innovators across
Europe and their previous experience with AXA in the nutrition and wellbeing
area was of great interest for us.

kind of solutions where available on the market and which one could answer
their needs.

panel of digital health startups that had already been validated by European
experts, reducing the risk of weak projects and teams.

The major challenge we are facing is probably the real understanding of the
business potential of the innovation proposed by the startup ecosystem.
Ideas are often appealing and robust from a scientific point of view, but the
market must validate the rise of these new business models. DOMPE was
looking to partner with entrepreneurs and start-ups proposing an alternative
to traditional nutrition approaches (consumption of food substitutes) and
offering solutions to monitor people lifestyles and to engage them in long-
term behaviour change.

Dompé is an Italian bio-pharmaceutical company that focuses on innovation,
where a long tradition in the field of personal wellness goes hand in hand
with a commitment to research and development to meet hitherto unsatisfied
therapeutic needs. Dompé is strongly committed to R&D investing every
year 15 % of a turnover of around 250 million euro. Dompé Primary Care
operates through two distinct lines - ethical drugs and self-medication.
