  3. 3. Technology Integration <ul><li>Technology integration is like technology use because you are using the equipment that is available to you. </li></ul><ul><li>However, you are using this equipment productively. </li></ul>
  4. 4. Which is better? <ul><li>I believe that technology integration is what schools should be focusing on. </li></ul><ul><li>Students will benefit more from the productive and active use of technology in their classrooms. </li></ul><ul><li>Technology is a part of their everyday lives, and it always will be. Knowing how to integrate it into other curriculum is essential for them. </li></ul>

  6. 6. Budgets <ul><li>Having the money to acquire technology for schools is always an issue. </li></ul><ul><li>Most technology critics believe that schools can not afford technology for their students. </li></ul>

Time <ul><li>Some critics believe that there is not enough time to implement technology into the school day. </li></ul><ul><li>Technology is usually a complex thing to teach so it takes up a lot of time. </li></ul><ul><li>They believe that it is hard enough to meet the requirements of other curriculum, and that technology is just added stress. </li></ul>

Effectiveness <ul><li>There has not been an excess amount of research done over the effectiveness of technology in education which makes some critics believe that it is not important. </li></ul><ul><li>Critics often wonder this because they believe it would be published if it was important. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Teacher and Technology <ul><li>Some teachers that have been in the teaching profession for awhile are computer and technology illiterate. </li></ul><ul><li>Teachers should be trained in technology so they are able to teach it productively. </li></ul>

Why should technology be implemented in schools? <ul><li>Society relies on technology. </li></ul><ul><li>It enables and assists with communication </li></ul><ul><li>It encourages creativity. </li></ul><ul><li>Grade improvement has been linked to technology integration. </li></ul><ul><li>Kids enjoy working with technology, and it makes them excited about coming to school. </li></ul><ul><li>Students with special needs are often able to complete work better when they use technology. </li></ul>

Society and Technology <ul><li>Society requires technology in many ways. </li></ul><ul><li>Students will have to use technology in society to function as a citizen. </li></ul><ul><li>Most jobs require the use of technology. </li></ul><ul><li>They will also need technology integration to be competitive students and citizens. The more they know, the more they will stand out to future employers and clients. </li></ul>

Communication and Technology <ul><li>Technology is essential for communication, and without technology integration students would be less able to communicate effectively. </li></ul><ul><li>Using technology to communicate connects students to the world. </li></ul><ul><li>Students can communicate </li></ul><ul><li>through: phone lines, </li></ul><ul><li>emails, video conferencing </li></ul><ul><li>and much more. </li></ul>

Creativity <ul><li>Students can use the web to gather ideas. </li></ul><ul><li>Using technology allows students to express themselves. </li></ul><ul><li>It encourage them to communicate with others. This helps them think critically about ideas. </li></ul><ul><li>It allows them to research topics by using more resources. If they did not have the web or other technology they would be limited to books. </li></ul>

Grade Improvement <ul><li>They are engaged in literacy while they are on the web. </li></ul><ul><li>Students spend more time on their work because they are engage in it while using technology. </li></ul><ul><li>Technology integration improved students’ reading and writing skills. </li></ul>

Pure Enjoyment <ul><li>Students are enthusiastic about working with technology. </li></ul><ul><li>The like the fact that they can write papers faster and modify their work without having to start all over. </li></ul><ul><li>When students are doing work with technology they are more engaged in the curriculum. </li></ul><ul><li>Technology is a way for students to feel connected to the world. </li></ul>

Students with Special Needs <ul><li>Technology enables students to express themselves easier and freely. </li></ul><ul><li>Technology, such as computers, create a comfortable environment for students because they are non-judgmental. </li></ul><ul><li>It is beneficial for students that struggle with short attention spans. </li></ul><ul><li>Students can take all the time they need when using technology because it is self-paced. </li></ul>

Teachers and Technology <ul><li>Teachers should strive to integrate technology into their lessons. </li></ul><ul><li>Teachers should not be afraid to admit they need help learning more about technology. </li></ul><ul><li>Encourage your schools to go to technology education workshops. </li></ul><ul><li>By incorporating technology in your classroom you are supporting your student’s future.
