  1. 1. Welcome to the Sequoyah High School Media Center!
  2. 2. We’re here to help! Mrs. Reed and Mrs. Franchini
  3. 3. The SHS Media Center opens at 8:00 each day and closes at 4:00.
  4. 4. <ul><li>Students must have a legitimate assignment to work on while in the media center. </li></ul><ul><li>Computer Use for School-based assignments </li></ul><ul><li>Academic Research </li></ul><ul><li>School-based assignments </li></ul><ul><li>Quiet Reading </li></ul>
  5. 5. Unless you are visiting with a class or coming over to check out a book during lunch, students must have a pass to visit the library. 1. Teacher written pass in agenda 2. Lunch Pass
  6. 6. Students who come to the media center must have a pass in their agenda . <ul><li>The pass must include </li></ul><ul><li>the teacher’s signature </li></ul><ul><li>the time </li></ul><ul><li>the destination </li></ul>
  7. 7. Lunch Passes <ul><li>Lunch passes are available all morning in the media center. You must have your agenda to get a lunch pass. </li></ul><ul><li>Passes are limited depending on the number of classes signed up to be in the media center on that day. </li></ul>
  8. 8. “ Sign In” and “Sign Out” on the computer at the front desk! All you need to know is your student ID # and all you have to do is and then ENTER and the program will record your time. You will simply type in you number again upon leaving the Media Center!

Media Center Rules <ul><li>Respect the rights of others to work effectively. </li></ul><ul><li>Do not bring food or drink into the media center. </li></ul><ul><li>Use appropriate language only. </li></ul><ul><li>Show care when using all library resources. </li></ul><ul><li>Follow all school rules in our media center classrooms as well—dress code, phones, electronics, etc. </li></ul>
  10. 10. Checkout Procedure <ul><li>You may to show some type of picture ID or a if your picture is not in our circulation system. </li></ul>
  11. 11. All books must be checked out at the circulation desk. You may check out only 2 books on a particular topic and only 3 books total . Students may not check out books for other students. Any book checked out in your name is your responsibility.
  12. 12. Magazines and newspapers must stay in the media center. Audio-visual materials, such as videos, are only checked out to teachers.
  13. 13. You will be notified in your first period class if you have an overdue book or fine. Overdue books are 15 cents/day. Reference/Overnight books are $1.00/day if turned in late.
  14. 14. Students with overdue books or fines cannot check out any other materials.
  15. 15. Printing <ul><li>You can print up to 5 pages of B/W print per period. It will be 10 cents per copy for each sheet over. </li></ul><ul><li>Color prints can be made only with the 2 back computers for 25 cents per page. </li></ul>
  16. 16. As stated in the CCSD Acceptable Use Policy . . . <ul><li>The computers are for educational purposes only. </li></ul><ul><li>EMAIL is blocked. See a media specialist if you have an academic reason for accessing your email account. </li></ul><ul><li>NO downloading or streaming music, videos, or games! </li></ul><ul><li>NO chat rooms or instant messaging! </li></ul><ul><li>NO viewing of inappropriate content! </li></ul><ul><li>NO electronic shopping or bidding! </li></ul>

Logging into a Computer <ul><li>Username: last name and ID number (smith12345) </li></ul><ul><li>First-time Password: shs </li></ul><ul><li>New Password: Something you will remember ! </li></ul><ul><li>Note: We cannot tell you what your password is if you forget—we can only request that it be reset back to a first-time password. </li></ul>
