By the end of this presentation you are expected to be able to answer the following essential questions:<br />What are the 6 major biomes on Earth from the Poles to the Equator?<br />What determines the animals that live in specific biomes?<br />How are plants and animals adapted to live in specific biomes?<br />

So…what is a Biome anyway?<br />A Biome is a large area with particular plants, animals, weather and climate. <br />These components are only found in that biome!<br /> LET’S THINK…..<br /> Would we ever see a polar bear walking around in our backyard?? Why or Why Not?<br />We would NOT see this because a polar bear is not adapted for the biome we live in!!<br />

  5. 5. Why do you think these animalscan live in our biome?<br />The weather and climate is perfect for them<br />Able to find food<br />Able to find shelter<br />THIS MEANS THESE ANIMALS HAVE ADAPTED TO LIVE IN OUR BIOME!!<br />
  6. 6. So, let’s back up—What are the 6 biomes?<br />Rain Forest (Tropical or Temperate)<br />Desert<br />Tundra<br />Taiga<br />Deciduous Forest (North Carolina is in this biome)<br />Grasslands<br />
