1. 1. LIMBO
 2. 2. WHAT IS IT???

One corrugate tube

22mm diameter

Septum/wall extruded down its middle

Inspiratory and expiratory channels are completely divided

Made of three different resins

Area of each distinct channel = 15.5mm

 3. 3. PATENTS

The Limbo has two patents:

Process = 6,431,218D1. Method of manufacture.

Design = 6,394,442B1. Single limb circle breathing system.

 4. 4. CHARACTERISTICS OF LIMBO

Less compliant - the septum along with the stiffness of the tubing decreases compliance thereby increasing total volume delivered to the patient. “What you set is what you get.”

Less heat loss - the septum permits the transfer of heat from the patient’s warm exhaled breath. Tests reveal an increase of 6.2°C @ 4L/min fresh gas flow rates.

 5. 5. CHARACTERISTICS OF LIMBO

Less weight - less plastic results in less weight and less torque on the patient’s artificial airway device. Limbo weighs 34% less than coaxial circuits and 25% less than traditional circle circuits.

Less inventory - One circuit for pediatrics and adults! Use Limbo with pediatric patients weighing 4.5kg or greater.

 6. 6. LIMBO WEIGHT PARAMETERS

Minimum tidal volume requirements to avoid rebreathing CO2:

3 x amount of mechanical dead space

Dead space of the Limbo is ~15cc

3 x 15cc = 45cc tidal volume minimum

10cc per kg of body weight is the usual estimate of VT

45cc minimum VT/10cc body weight = 4.5kg or 9.9lbs

 7. 7. CLINICAL USES FOR LIMBO

ANESTHESIA

TRANSPORT

RESPIRATORY CARE

 8. 8. ANESTHESIA

Standard connections adapt to anesthesia machines

 15. 15. 4300MDE

Adapter for administering an MDI

Disposable

For use in respiratory care or anesthesia

4300MDI also available - fits onto inspiratory limb

 16. 16. Multi-Access™ Adapter

Used for measuring proximal airway pressure

For Bear 1000 or any other vent requiring proximal pressure port

22mm I.D./ 22mm O.D.

Product code: 174024

 17. 17. Multi-Access™ Adapter
 18. 18. RESPIRATORY CARE

For use with but not limited to Servo 900c (pictured), 300

Temperature port adapter P/N 174020 if using heater

Possible future design with heated wire

 19. 19. RESPIRATORY CARE

For use with PB7200 (pictured), PB840

Not limited to these vents

May be used with any volume ventilator that uses a circle breathing circuit

 20. 20. QUALITY ASSURANCE

Every two hours, 10 hose segments are verified in order to validate the extrusion process

Every circuit is 100 % leak tested with a flow detector

A circle is created with the tubing and is pressurized according to ISO standards

If a leak is detected the circuit is considered a failure and is discarded

Actions are taken to modify the materials

 21. 21. SALES STRATEGIES

Inventory consolidation = one circuit for peds and adults

Three applications = OR, TXP, RT

Mapleson D adapter

No risk of increased dead space (King F2)

Thermally efficient

Flexible configurations

Unique!
