  2. 2. <ul><li> Objectives of the e-Project </li></ul><ul><li>Main Objective </li></ul><ul><li>To teach some reading strategies for improving the reading comprehension </li></ul><ul><li>performance of my students of English I, at Unexpo &quot;LCM&quot;, through the use of a wiki.   </li></ul>
  3. 3. <ul><li>Secondary Objectives </li></ul><ul><li>To train my students of English I, at Unexpo &quot;LCM&quot;, in the correct use of Wikis </li></ul><ul><li>for academic purposes, including the proper use of Netiquettes.  </li></ul><ul><li>To design an online bank of technical readings for the students of English I, at Unexpo. </li></ul><ul><li>  To avoid spending a lot of paper to photocopy the different readings used in the English I </li></ul><ul><li>classes at Unexpo. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>ADVANTAGES </li></ul><ul><li>Engineering students: 40% Systems – 30% Mechanical – 30% Industrial </li></ul><ul><li>80 % have a computer at home with broadband </li></ul><ul><li>Most of them have a good command of Office programs. </li></ul><ul><li>Most of them are willing to learn through technology. </li></ul><ul><li>DISADVANTAGES </li></ul><ul><li>They have never been taught through a web 2.0 tool. </li></ul><ul><li>Unexpo does not have, an English lab </li></ul><ul><li>English classes at Unexpo are taught in Spanish </li></ul>PROFILE OF MY STUDENTS REGARDING TECHNOLOGY

(English/Spanish) </li></ul><ul><li>Join to the Wiki course </li></ul><ul><li>Do the corresponding exercises </li></ul><ul><li>WEEK II: SKIMMING </li></ul><ul><li>Check the reading about how to Skim a text </li></ul><ul><li>Do the exercise about Skimming </li></ul><ul><li>Write your reflections about using this strategy  </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>WEEK III: SCANNING </li></ul><ul><li>Check the reading about how to Scan a text </li></ul><ul><li>Do the exercise about Scanning </li></ul><ul><li>Answer the questions about the reading </li></ul><ul><li>Write your reflections about using this strategy  </li></ul><ul><li>WEEK IV: PARAPHRASING </li></ul><ul><li>Check the recommended article about how to </li></ul><ul><li>paraphrase a text . </li></ul><ul><li>Read   the original text and make a paraphrasis of it   </li></ul><ul><li>Post your paraphrasis in the Wiki and compare your </li></ul><ul><li>version with your classmates job. </li></ul>
