2. 2. open data is good
3. 3. democratic data is better
4. 4. open data push is nice
so far it has been top down
big organisations
big data sets
what about people?
5. 5. Introducing
Charlie
6. 6. Charlie is a platform
for crowdsourcing
linked open data
7. 7. It will work like this
8. 8. Step 1: identify a useful
lump of data
This is a Bundle
9. 9. Technical bit:
A bundle consists of a set of classes and properties which, when populated, result in a self-contained lump of data
10. 10. Example: Potholes
FillThatHole.org.uk
Hazard type
Description
Size/depth
Location
Date
11. 11. These values constitute a useful description of a pothole
12. 12. Step 2: publish the
bundle to Charlie
13. 13. There is no step 3
14. 14. From the semantics of the data, and the semantics of the bundle, a web interface, mobile application, reports, and RDF repository can be built
15. 15. You can publish these URIs and start crowdsourcing your data immediately
