  4. 4. The majority of the world’s population and major cities are within 200 metres of sea level.

  8. 8. Coastal areas can be hazardous. Coastal processes can affect people.
  9. 9. People can affect coasts. Coastal areas are managed and changed by people.

  12. 12. Waves <ul><li>Waves are the agent of change. </li></ul><ul><li>Their energy erodes, transports and deposits material along the coast. </li></ul>
  13. 13. Tides <ul><li>Every 12 hours 24 minutes the Earth rotates relative to the Moon. The gravitational pull of the Moon causes the rise and fall of the sea level. </li></ul><ul><li>High and Low Tides. </li></ul>
