What happens when you bring together government, business, nonprofits and citizens? Magic, but channeling that magic requires us to move from simply cooperation to true collaboration. Through examining collaborations like National Day of Civic Hacking and LAUNCH; which included partners like the US government, NASA, Intel, Nike and civil society, Roxann will present SecondMuse's view on the new era of collaboration that is emerging and how it is helping to co-create sustainable wealth.

  7. 7. NASA, USAID, Department of State, and NIKE joined together to form LAUNCH in an effort to identify, showcase and support innovative approaches to global challenges through a series of forums and an accelerator process. 8. 8. THE PROBLEM The transportation of needles, syringes, and vaccine around the world presents a serious logistics problem. Vaccines deteriorate over time and must be stored in temperature-controlled locations. Used needles also present a dangerous problem as needle sticks and improperly disposed of waste can easily transmit disease. THE VISION By easing the transportation and delivery of vaccines around the world, the Bioneedle group believes that large populations will easily become vaccinated. THE SOLUTION Biodegradable, hollow, implantable needles are filled with vaccine and dissolve in the body within minutes – delivering necessary inoculation and requiring no cleanup or disposal of needles.
