My Goal
I would like to start exercising more and be more active

S (Specific): I want to start walking to class and join the intramural softball league.
M(Measurable): I would use the pedometer on my I phone and make sure I walk 1 mile everyday.
A(Achievable): I would start walking to class with my girlfriend or friends, and stop driving to class and wasting gas. Also my friends and I are going to form and intramural softball team and play in a league.
R(Realistic): I am going to start doing this as soon as possible and get my I phone ready to record the data. I have the drive and I will be fully motivated by my peers. My friends and I already signed up for this league.
T(Time): I will be more active almost every day for the next 2 1/2 months hoping to reach my goal to be more active.

I choose this goal because I wanted to be more active and start getting in shape now for the summer time. By doing this project I’m forced to keep track of how I’m doing and stay on track.
The steps I need to take to accomplish this task is start walking and stop driving to nearby places. Another thing I need to accomplish is to join intramural softball league.

Log Book

2 Fox Park Dr. to High St. is exactly .6 mi

I did not realize that me walking to class was going to be time consuming and had to get up earlier and leave earlier before going to certain events. I get used to getting in my car and driving and being there in like 2 minutes. But now I had to plan everything ahead of time. I also realize that my body was not used to all this walking so, my muscles started to hurt after certain walks.
Enablers
My friends and I decided that we were going to go to the gym at least 4 times a week so it was going to be easier going with my friends. My girlfriend also walks to class a lot so I will just walk with her. All the support I had was going to make my goal of being very active easy.
Results
I accomplished my goal of being more active, by going to the gym, playing softball, and walking to classes. However I came a little short of walking 20 miles every month. Although I did not walk 20 miles a month, I was more than satisfied with what I have done. I’m not the person who walks to class all the time, so I was surprised when I put my data together from my pedometer on my I phone.
Before doing this project, I was not active at all. I would drive to class never go to the gym, and just sit around all day. My post-goal is that I am now much more active all though I don’t walk to class as much I still go to the gym almost every day and plan on doing intramural basketball.
I feel great about what I accomplished. I feel great physically and mentally. I now feel like I’m in shape and I could run a marathon. I’m going to continue being as active as I can. This project was great accomplishment. I’m very proud of myself.
