Standard 1 - Understanding the principles and values of work with children and young people <ul><li>WHAT YOU ARE EXPECTED TO KNOW OR UNDERSTAND </li></ul><ul><li>==================================================================================== </li></ul><ul><li>You should understand the principles and values and know how to put them into practice. You should also know how to promote them at work in a way that supports and respects diversity. </li></ul><ul><li>You should understand the importance of confidentiality including what you should keep confidential and what you should not. </li></ul><ul><li>You should be able to show that you understand how to adopt a child centred approach; and how to demonstrate it in practice by meeting the outcomes set out in the standard. </li></ul><ul><li>You are expected to ‘understand the rights of the individuals you work with to take risks and your role in relation to that risk taking’ </li></ul>5/1/2010 Early Years CPD
