One such casualty was Datagram which took down popular news sites Gawker.com, Gizmodo and Jezebel with it.

During the 5 day outage news sites without redundancy in place relied on social media & externally hosted blogs to keep readers informed. Those with redundant setups were able to recover more quickly with the help of their CDNs to mirror their content.
