Proverbs 12 1 Whoso loveth instruction loveth
knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish.
Brutish = like cattle; dumb
as an ox.
You have to have a
teachable spirit to
gain knowledge.
If you don’t love to learn, you will never
grow to maturity in the Lord.
3. 3
The love of learning and growing is an
essential part of becoming a mature Christian.
If you have the same beliefs and hold to the same
ideas and desires that you had as a teenager,
You have not grown at all; you are still a
baby in your Christian walk.
4. 4
2 A good man obtaineth favor of the LORD: but a
man of wicked devices will He condemn.
God’s favor is to be desired above all else.
A good man is a man of good character and behavior.
We must strive to be our very
best in thought, word and deed.
We do not want the condemnation of God.
Submit to God’s Word and Spirit.
5. 5
3 A man shall not be established by wickedness: but
the root of the righteous shall not be moved.
Though men may advance themselves by sinful
arts, they cannot settle and secure themselves. But
those who by faith are rooted in Christ, are firmly
fixed.
Matthew Henry Concise Bible Commentary.
A stable life is to be desired far more than to gain
advancement, only to fall back time after time.
6. 6
4 A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband: but
she that maketh ashamed is as rottenness in his
bones.
A woman who strives to be her very best in all
things, all the time is a virtuous woman..
She cares most about her husband and her children;
Not about herself.
She will never neglect her home and family to
chase her own desires for pleasure or
advancement in this world.
7. 7
5 The thoughts of the righteous are right: but the
counsels of the wicked are deceit.
Thoughts and words reveal character.
All deceit is wickedness; the righteous are open
and honest in all our dealings.
8. 8
6 The words of the wicked are to lie in wait for
blood: but the mouth of the upright shall deliver
them.
Some people speak with intent to hurt.
God says they are wicked.
The righteous strive to heal the hurting.
12. 12
Ephesians 4 31 Let all bitterness, and wrath, and
anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away
from you, with all malice: 32 And be ye kind one to
another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even
as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.
Most marriages could be saved and made joyful if
husbands and wives would live by this rule.
Every Christian home should be a refuge from
the world – a place of peace and joy.
