  2. 2. <ul><li>WHAT IS A FLUID ? </li></ul><ul><li>A substance which moves due to pressure difference between 2 points. </li></ul><ul><li>It can be liquid or gas. </li></ul><ul><li>Fluid flow can be steady or nonsteady. </li></ul><ul><li>It can be rotational or irrotational. </li></ul>

  4. 4. <ul><li>WHAT IS IDEAL FLUID ? </li></ul><ul><li>-A steady,noncompressible,irrotational,nonviscous is ideal fluid. </li></ul>
  5. 5. <ul><li>WHAT IS LAMINAR FLOW ? </li></ul><ul><li>The particles move along their own paths which will not cross the paths of other adjacent particles. </li></ul><ul><li>They move as parallel line to the side of the tube. </li></ul>
  6. 6. <ul><li>WHAT IS TURBULENT FLOW ? </li></ul><ul><li>The paths of particles cross eachother & there is loss of energy. </li></ul>
  7. 7. <ul><li>BERNOULLI’S PRINCIPLE : </li></ul><ul><li>Daniel Bernoulli published relationship of fluid flow in his book HYDRODYNAMICA. </li></ul><ul><li>According to him higher velocities produce negative pressure by their side. </li></ul>

  9. 9. <ul><li>1.DIFFUSER or INJECTOR: </li></ul><ul><li>A jet of gas or oxygen with high pressure is delivered through a small nozzle. </li></ul><ul><li>A negative pressure is created by the side of the jet. </li></ul><ul><li>Ambient air is sucked in. </li></ul><ul><li>This is called ENTRAINMENT OF AIR. </li></ul>
  10. 10. <ul><li>2.VENTURI METER : </li></ul><ul><li>- This is used for large volume of fluid flow. </li></ul>

  12. 12. <ul><li>4. VENTI MASK : </li></ul><ul><li>The supply of air will give 24,28,35,40,50,60% of O2. </li></ul><ul><li>At the rate of 2 lit/min 38 litres of air is entrained giving 24% O2. </li></ul>
