  2. 2. Phase 1: Relative Advantage<br />My students will learn about Earth Day and how we can incorporate Earth Day activities into our daily lives to help the Earth.<br />

Phase 2: Objectives and Assessment<br />To provide students with knowledge about the Earth as well as ways in which we can promote conservation and concern for our environment.<br />During the lessons students will:<br />Participate in an Earth Day Webquest (as a class) in which they will learn about Earth Day and Reduce, Reuse, Recycle<br />Take a walk outside and examine the Earth<br />Write a letter (or draw a picture) to the Earth about ways in which they will take care of it<br />
  4. 4. Phase 3: Integration Strategies<br />Instructional Method: Constructivist<br />Lesson Development: This unit will allow students to learn more about the Earth in a hands on manner. It will also teach students about recycling and how to incorporate it into their daily lives. <br />Technology: Earth Day Webquest<br />
  5. 5. Phase 3: Integration Strategies<br />During these lessons, students will:<br />Read about Earth Day<br />Examine the environment<br />Practice ways to save energy and water<br />Practice reduce, reuse and recycle<br />Write a letter (or draw a picture) to the Earth<br />

  7. 7. Activity 2<br />What’s in my lunchbox?<br />Reusable lunch box<br />Sandwich container<br />Reusable water bottle<br />Snack container<br />How much paper, tinfoil and plastic did we individually save if we do this 180 days out of the year? What about as a class (x25 students)?<br />
  8. 8. Phase 4: Instructional Environment<br />Lessons will require the following:<br />Access to webquest (done as a class)<br />Paper, pencils<br />Examples of items that can be recycled<br />Lunch box materials for lunch box activity<br />Time to complete projects<br />

Phase 5: Evaluate Integration Strategies<br />The integration strategies will be evaluated by:<br />How interested are students in the webquest?<br />How easily are students able to perform the activities in the webquest?<br />Are students able to answer the questions throughout the webquest?<br />What conservation strategies did the students outline in their letter to the Earth?<br />
