Surgical Treatment For Excessive Gum Pigments Case One

  1. 1. Many people have variations of natural pigmentation in the gum tissue. Dark pigmentation was exacerbated in this patient by cigarette smoking.
  2. 2. The procedure is carried out under local anesthesia. Using very fine surgical instruments or dental lasers, the pigmented cells are carefully removed.
  3. 3. This image is a 3-year follow-up. There is some recurrence, especially with heavy smoking.
