  • Good afternoon, I have been in practise for over 6 years now, my experience has allowed me to see the negative effects of stress. Not only on the human body from and health standpoint but on our health-care system as well. Cost associated with stress and stress related illness and disease are into the billions of dollars in our country alone. How do we solve this problem? So that’s comes to the reason that give these to as many people as I can as often as I can. There must a change to the status quo of the disease care model of health, it’s all around us, in tv, magazines. Is setting us up for failure. Educating people on the wellness care model of health, about stress and how to best manage it will have a huge effect on the individual and society as a whole.
  • How do you percieve stress Money problems – the last few years have been tough for a lot of people and businesses. Depression – the combination of mutliple stressors can lead to cases of depression ( amino acid deficiency, thyroid dysfunction, food and environmental allergens, circadium rhythm disorder, fatty acid deficiency, chronic pain) Relationship problems – stress can have a neagative effect on every reationship that we have. Between wives and husbands, with your children, with your co-workers Anxiety – Family challenges – can have devastating effects on the family structure. Balancing work and family life can be difficult. Children Work Divorce Losses The general stress of life.
  • A complete avoidance of stress is impossible. Stress is a necessary part of life, it’s required for us to develop and survive. Our immune systems required us to experience our environment in order for it to learn and get stronger. We need to feel hunger to know when to fuel ourselves. We all have an natural capacity for stress. We all have an inborn ability to manage a certain amount of stress. More people are working more hours leaving less time for there families, less time for exercise/activity, less time to prepare and cook healthy meals for themselves or their family
  • We see this in the numbers. The major causes of chronic health conditions in Canada and North America have a consistent theme in the research literature. Lifestyle and stress
  • If anything damages your skull or your spine it can damage with the nervous system leading to a breakdown in the bodies ability to communicate and run the functions of the body. When the body is exposed to physical trauma it will trigger a stress response, When our nervous system becomes overloaded with stress ( physical, emotional, chemical ), it can only handle so much and begins to break down. The way it begins to break down is through the nervous system.
  • Your nerve system processes and filters all information. Stress leaves and imprint and begins to change your neurological pattern.
  • ( 32 minutes ) Everything that you into your body that is not a nutrient will impact their body in a negative way. There are tens of thousands of man made chemicals that we are exposed to. We have more physical, chemical and emotional stress than ever before and it is killing, destroying our health and well being.
  • Our internal adaptability is controlled by your nervous system will dictate our health and well-being. Our capacity to adapt will dictate our health and well-being. Stress, whether positive or negative will leave an imprint on our nervous system. When stress is present for a long period of time it will engrain an imprint on our nervous system that will change our neurological processing.
  • 37 minutes. We begin to see new neurological patterns as the body attempts to manage stress, and we can measure these changes through technology, co-ordination and balance changes, changes in the way the we move.
  • Identify incoming stress. Look at your daily activities and habits and identify physical, chemical and emotional stressors. Especially if they are “small’. All stress, positive or negative leaves an imprint on our nervous system. 2) Identify past stress. From what e know s far, is it a good idea to hold on to past stress? No, because that stress remains ingrained and will affect how we function and how we respond to stress, to oppurtunities, to relationshipd that we have. ( eg: abuse ) 3) Reduce or Eliminate
  • Most occupations do not allow for nearly enough phyiscal activity. Physical jobs are normally awkward, not symetrical. Exercise will increase your strength and endurance which allows for better support from your spine. Exercise can help reduce or eliminate emotional stress. Rest is crucial, when we rest it gives our bodies the opportunity to regenerate. Your mind and body requirres 6-8 hours of quality sleep. You can run off of 6 six but you will run yourself down. Giving your mind and body the proper fuel to work. You don’t put diesel fuel in a gas car, why? Meditation. What do you think of when you hear that word. Humming, sitting legs crossed for extended periods of time. If this is for you great. But Meditation really means giving yourself some time. Time to reflect, time to consider, time to process. Yoga is a great combination to exercise the body and reduce the mental stress.
  • I want to share a story about a patient of mine. He is 35, plays soccer, on the outside he appears physically fit and he comes in about once per month for care. Every time I see Mark his concerns are the same. Neck pain causing headache. Along with his neck pain he always appears to have the weight of the world on his shoulders, and it is almost always due to work. In boom times he is stressed that there is no much work to do and too little time to do it. Now he’s stressed because there is less work and he is worried about his numbers. No matter the environment he is stressed. When I assess Mark, his scans show nothing but red and some black areas, consistently. The 3 or so weeks he has no neck pain he describes himself as well. Mark had a heart attack. He’s alive but his perspective has totally changed and is doing a much better job at following my recommendations. Mark was stuck in a disease care model of health. Unfortunately it took a life threatening event for him to adopt a wellness model of health. Not everyone is so lucky. Do you know what the most common symptom of heart disease is? Death.
