Present Activities of MSW Unit • Payment Exemptions of treatment/implants/ diagnostic tests/aids/appliances charges for the poor/unknown/unattended patients who are unable to afford treatment through: Verification of BPL cards, Conducting Socio-economic assessments of poor patients • Arranging funds for poor patients from different available sources (NIAF, DAN, HMDF, PMRF etc.)
  2. 2. Continued………. • Rehabilitation/restoration of unknown/ unattended patients to various shelter homes and their own homes after discharge. • Provide medicines to poor and needy patients admitted in Casualty, Wards and also OPD patients • Provide walkers, crutches, wheel chairs, suction machines etc. to poor patients • Verification of medical re-imbursement bills of the patients.

Continued………. • Organization of Blood Donation Camps and motivating the patient’s relative to donate blood by way of counseling to replenish the stock in Blood Bank. • Networking and liaising with various agencies for rehabilitation of Unknown/Unattended patients and resource mobilization for poor patients.

Miscellaneous • Medicines: 238 poor patients were provided medicines. • Counselling: 20 patient’s relatives were given counselling for different problemes faced by them. • Blood Donation Camp: A blood donation camp was organized at National Law University, Dwarka in collaboration of Blood Connect and 109 units blood was collected. • Amputation Clinic: Prosthesis were arranged for 3 amputee patients.

Milestones • Coordinated with Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Institute for Physically Handicapped, Ministry of Social justice and Empowerment to provide free walking aids/appliances to the poor patients at the time of discharge. • Paper presentation on SPIRITUALITY, RELIGION AND COUNSELLING TO DEAL WITH GRIEF IN TRAUMA CARE FACILITIES IN INDIA – AN EMERGING CONCEPT OF SOCIAL FORENSICS in 4th International Conference on Medical Negligence and Litigation in Medical Practices on 25th – 27th January 2013 at Kovalam, Kerala

Milestones continued..... • Strengthened the documentation of exemption process and developed proforma for “socio- economic assessment”. • Developed a set of proforma to document the process of rehabilitation of Unknown/Unattended patients; Rehabilitation process record proforma Declaration proforma for the patient’s recipient Declaration proforma for the patients relative (in case of home traced) • Developed proforma to record the counseling sessions

  16. 16. E-Exemption process Step:1 • Exemption request initiated by the Nursing Staff/Residents and reaches to Treating Faculty for recommendation. Step:2 • Treating faculty recommends request and forward to the MSSO for verification of BPL Card/Socio-economic Status Step:3 • MSSO verifies the BPL Card/assesses the socio-economic status of the patient’s family. If patient family is found to be genuinely poor, request is forwarded to Duty Officer for approval. Step:4 • Duty Officer forwards it for the approval of Chief, JPNATC Step:5 • Finally Chief, JPNATC approves the exemption request
