Countless studies have shown the value of telemedicine when it comes to patient care. Tech and healthcare experts, as well as economic analysts, predict that this year, around 7 million patients will be using telemedicine technology in one form or another when consulting with physicians. That’s a meteoric rise considering that only less the 400,000 patients were using telemedicine technology in 2013. Although obstacles such as learning curve in operating telemedicine tech, questionable reliability, and the need for extensive testing exist, the pros far outweigh the cons in the long run. Several models were run to simulate future services. Some of these simulations show that telemedicine technology may cut down the cost of a patient’s in-visit consultation by more than 70 to 80 percent. It also showed that there is a huge possibility for health problems to be resolved in eight out of ten consultations through telemedicine.
