  3. 3. Exercise Regular gentle exercise can stave off all sorts of potential health issues including liver disease, as it burns triglycerides and reduces fat in the liver. Drugs and Alcohol Alcohol abuse can cause many health problems, particularly in the liver. Avoiding excessive alcohol consumption and illicit drugs helps to maintain a healthy liver. Hygiene Personal hygiene helps maintain a healthy body. Washing hands regularly – particu- larly after going to the toilet or changing a diaper, and before preparing or eating food – helps keep livers healthy. Alcohol abuse can cause many health problems, par- ticularly in the liver. Avoiding excessive alcohol consump- tion and illicit drugs helps to maintain a healthy liver. Diet One of the most important things for a healthy liver is a healthy and nutritious diet that avoids ingredients such as sugar, refined carbohydrates and saturated fats, and does not overload on calories. Fiber, diary, lean meats, polyunsaturated fats and monounsaturated fats all help to maintain a balance. Hydration is also essential. 3
