  4. 4. The Package Travel Directive <br />The Package Travel Directive <br />The Package Travel Directive (Council Directive 90/314/EEC ) was adopted in 1990. The Directive has been an important cornerstone in the protection of European consumers going on holidays.<br />In 2007 the Commission published a working document, Commission Working Document  , to set out the main regulatory problems in the area of package travel and to consult stakeholders on issues related to the Directive. The consultation showed a strong support for its revision. <br />Respondents widely endorse the Commission's description of the way the travel market has evolved since the Directive was adopted.<br />BUT (see PDF http://ec.europa.eu/consumers/rights/summary_responses_publication_final_30012007.pdf)<br />Almost all the Member States and all consumer stakeholders call for a clarification regarding the scope of the Directive.<br />Now....
