My name is Mr. Eagle. I’ve been teaching for one year here at the high school. I got my degrees from the University of North Florida where this picture was taken, and from Mount Vernon Nazarene University. I was in the Navy for six years as a helicopter rescue crewman, and got to travel all over the world. I’m originally from the area, and in fact attended high school right here….although that was back in the mid-90’s when most of you were probably born.
United States History from Discovery through the Civil War. Focusing on Colonies and early trade…American Revolution…The New Government…slavery….the Civil War.Grading will be A 100-90, B 89-80, C 79-70, D 69-60, F 59 and under. Homework, quizzes, tests, reports, and final project.History is important because it tells us who we are and where we came from.
Detention is in my classroom during your lunch period, unless it is afterschool, in which case it is for one half hour in the detention hall with Miss Alwaysinacrappymood. Everyone knows the school’s policy on cell phones in the classroom. If I see it, it’s mine until the end of the day.
See your HDVHS handbook for a copy of the hall pass. If you need to go into the hall for any reason, it must be signed and dated by me, and must be carried with you at all times you are outside the room.
There are a total of 1000 points available in this class. There are five units in this class, therefore each unit test is worth 100 points. The grading scale has already been discussed, and no, there are no A+’s.
Interims DO get letter grades on them. Semester report cards must have the attached slip signed by your legal guardian and returned the first school day after they are sent home. Parent teacher conferences are a time for me to address any of your parents’ concerns, and to inform them of your performance in my class. Repeated infractions of my rules, dangerous or threatening behavior, or refusal to cooperate with assignments and class room activities will result in a phone call home.
