This is the first stage of the design process where our designer has generated some initial ideas for the future design of the Tallis Uniform. Please leave comments about your first impressions.

  • I think you could have both polo and shirt and they can be worn on a seasonal basis .Love the idea of the Chino like Jeans.Remind me of the Virgin airline uniform .Hoods do not do it for me .Other accessories could possibly be designed to keep out the cold .Scarf ,hat .Don't worry i am not proposing a boater !!I thought that we might move away from the Blue as so many other schools locally have it.What about a neutral colour like Grey and use the colour around the building to trim the Grey with the stripes as suggested by the designer.Students might want to select their colour based around the subjects they enjoy most and where that colour links in the building.I like the cardigan .I would agree it has a preppy look ,very Ralph Lauren.The durability of the fabric is also going to be important but i am sure that all of that has been considered.It is looking really good .Let us get away from that Blue!!!!

  49. 49. Taking into account the feedback from the workshops, a medium weight jersey cardigan has been designed to allow for easy access into garment and with generous pockets. It has printed ‘lapels’ for that humorous take on suits.Monday, 7 March 2011
  50. 50. A sleeveless woven jacket that again, plays with the idea of lapel by using it’s negative space. The lapel mirrors the printed lines in the cardigan. This garment would allow for extra warmth on winter days, whilst allowing for freedom of movement with the lack of sleevesMonday, 7 March 2011

  52. 52. If we were to chose the grey shade, we would have to add reflective tape to the garment to make sure students are safe and visible in the streets. A generous pocket has been designed on the back, inspired by cycling jackets.Monday, 7 March 2011

  55. 55. A different sleeveless jacket has been designed for the hooded version. This one has a sort of lapel, but is created by the fold back of the centre front.Monday, 7 March 2011
  56. 56. All custom made garments have been designed with cost effectiveness in mind, so that the manufacturing part will not be expensive, details and cutting are simple. The fabrics should also be machine washable.Monday, 7 March 2011
