Recently there has been a large number of teenagers who have committed suicide because they were being bullied in order to find out how related I decided to do some research on the issue and I found out that there is a link between bullying and teenage suicide
One of the main reasons that children commit suicide when being bullied is because they are not talking to anyone they are keeping all of the feelings they are having over being bullied inside which makes the situation worse.
There are several types of bullying that teenagers have to go through one type of bullying is physical bullying this is where The second type of bullying is referred to as verbal bullying this type of bullying makes up forty point six percent of all bullying according to the article “DIFFERENT TYPES OF BULLYING” by Norfolk Country. The second type of bullying that a teenager can experience is verbal bullying which isoffensive remarks, or jokes that deals with someone’s religion, gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, or the way someone looks (Norfolk Country, 2007). Another type of bullying is indirect bullying this is when spreading rumors about his or her victims or excluding someone from an activity (Norfolk Country, 2007). Indirect bullying makes up about eighteen point five percent of all bullying that occurs in high school students (Norfolk, Country, 2007). The last type of bullying is cyber bullying which is happens when someone is bullying through the internet and currently makes up about four percent of all bullying that is occurring in high schools (Norfolk Country, 2007).
It is important to notice that they reason that teenagers are committing suicide is because they are feeling depressed because they are not understanding why they are being bullied. The teenagers no longer want to deal with the pain that they are feeling so commit suicide in order to take away the pain that they are feeling
Based on the study that was done by Science Daily there is enough evidence to show that bullying is directly linked to teenagers committing suicide. The study shows that two out of nine teenagers commit suicide because they were being bullied the most interesting fact that I found in this study is that not only does the person who is being bullied suffer consequences but so do the people who are actually doing the bullying.
There has been a lot of parents who have reported that the son or daughter committed suicide because they were being bullied in one form or another.
This was a clear example of a teenager committing suicide because Christian Taylor left his parents a note telling them that he could not handle the bullying any more. He attempted to stop the bullying by talking to his mom and the school but it did not stop the bullying. Christian Taylor hung himself in his bedroom on Memorial Day as a result of the bulllying.
In this case five teenagers where charged for bullying Phoebe Prince and although they were found not guilty her case did make some states come up with an anti bullying law in hopes of this never happening again.
It is important to remember that any one can be a bully so we have to talk to our kids to make sure that they are not miss treating each other.
