  • If only we knew about this 10 years ago! I wasted a ton of money on garbage 'stop snoring' products like mouth guards, throat sprays, lozenges and nasal strips, to name just a few! None of them worked. My doctor explained to me that the only way I was going to fix my snoring was with an operation, although he did say it was a last resort.   2. 3. <ul><li>Aids in discovering meanings of unknown words </li></ul><ul><li>Clues may be words, phrases, or sentences surrounding the unknown word </li></ul>
  3. 4. <ul><li>1. SEMANTIC CLUES – are derived from the meaning of the words co- occurring with the unknown word. </li></ul><ul><li>- used together to unlock meaning of unknown words. </li></ul><ul><li>Kinds: </li></ul><ul><li>a. DEFINITION CLUE – A word may be directly defined in the context. </li></ul><ul><li>Ex: The register is the book in which the names of the people are kept. </li></ul>
  4. 5. <ul><li>b. THE APPOSITIVE CLUE – may offer a synonym or description of the word </li></ul><ul><li>Ex: Euthanasia , mercy killing in plain language, is a very controversial issue. </li></ul>
