Hunger games

  1. 1. Gale
  2. 2. NameGale’s name literally means tempest orstorm. This is very ironic, because healways tries to be there for Katniss, but inthe end, him being there was the cause, ina sense, of the chaos and uncertainty thatensued with the love triangle.
  3. 3. RoleGale is placed in the book as the replacement father forKatniss. After her father dies in an accident at themine, Katniss depends on him to talk her off the ledgeand get her back on her feet, all while having toprovide for his family. He gives Katniss a shoulder tocry on, and helps her put food on the table. He also ina sense, gave her someone to help, since she gave someof her food to Gale’s family, and became like adaughter to them. This provided Katniss with animmense sense of confidence in herself, which was avery important psychological factor that helped herwin the Games.
  4. 4. If He Wasn’t ThereIf Gale wasn’t in the book, things would not play outnearly as similarly as they did. Without him, Katnisswould’ve become disheartened by the death of her father, and maybe wouldn’t even be alive to take Prim’s place inthe Games. Maybe she wouldn’t be able to provide for herfamily in the Winter without Gale’s expertise withsnares and traps. Even if she was alive and went to theGames, she would probably be very bitter at life, becauseof her father and the reaping, Peeta wouldn’t go for thestar crossed lovers thing, and they would probably bothdie. It would be like any other Hunger Games; a deathsentence for a teenager in District 12.
