5. 5. The Takers ( Market Categories )

E-Learning is no longer limited to kids studying in a school.

It has now proven it's 'need' in various sectors of industry.

A few important of them including but not limited to :

K-12 schools

High Schools

Colleges and Universities

Corporate Organizations/Institutes

Government -- ( Yeah, you read right !)

Assessment Institutions (e.g. Prometric)

Freemium Community ( Free education, but attracting a considerably huge user-base)

 6. 6. Revenue Model

We arn't limited to these choices but most probable options are :

Product Based :-

Release the versions of products as installables.

Takers are mostly Universities & corporate houses.

This will need an availability of support mechanism.

Application being hosted in-house by corresponding body.

Providing updates ( can be paid or hot-fixes for bugs)

Need of Customization framework, which'll be leveraged when asked by the user to deliver a customized release.

Cost of maintenance for user will be quite high, as it'll include ongoing maintenance of hardware & software.

 7. 7. Revenue Model (contd.)

2. Service Based :-

Providing the application as an online service.

User-base is expected to be more in this case, since costs are reduced at user's end regd maintenance.

This will need an availability of support mechanism.

Application hosted by a third-party/our own cloud/data-center.

Need of Customization framework, which'll be leveraged when asked by the user to deliver a customized release.

Cost of maintenance for user will be quite low, as compared to Product based model. thus attracting a good user-base, ranging from small schools to big corporate houses.

 8. 8. Revenue Model (contd.)

3. Hybrid :-

Providing the application as an online service and as installable.

User-base will depend upon how we put up the model of cost here. We can make available the service as freemium & installable as fully-paid product or vice-versa.

Likely to be complex due to the fact that we might have to maintain two different versions for same product at a time.

Additional customization will incur additional cost to user.

We can opt for providing/assisting in hosting solutions.

 9. 9. Revenue Model (contd.)

From All the models, costing need to designed in an intelligent way, keeping in mind the the cost <-> user base trade-off.

Providing a lite version with some limitations ( not too restrictive, but an optimal solution ) free of cost.

For a dedicated solution, having extra "enabled" features etc. at an extended viable price.

Also, we need to focus on the fact that user base will expand based on the value-of-cost they have paid for, so putting all the prime players under lens is an important task.

Product design can be ongoing, with added features, comes added value & better price.

 10. 10. Action Items

Identify Key targets in the available geographic region.

We need to capture at least 1 such user, whom a hoard of users follow, forcing them to get the same solution as their leader is opting to.

Will add a thinkspace regd. this & share.

Also, Need to install & rip down the functionality of available open source systems.

This is to be done in order to start preparing the marketing methodology in parallel.

To keep in mind that to come up with a marketing solution, which comply to all standards related to the domain. For our case it'll be SCORM & LOM at the basic level.
