Facts About Organ Donation<br />100,000 men, women, and children are currently on the waiting list for an organ.<br />Every 11 minutes, someone is added to the organ waiting list. <br />Anyone can potentially be a donor.<br />A deceased donor can give kidneys, pancreas, liver, lungs, heart and intestinal organs.<br />A living donor can give a kidney, a portion of the liver, a lung or a part of the intestine. <br />
  4. 4. Facts<br />Waiting Lists are formed through 11 geographical areas in the United States. <br />The waiting list is more a pool of people put into a system to match with a donor. <br />The Organ Procurement Organization (OPO) is in charge of the coordination of donors and recipients. <br />
  5. 5. Why Donate?<br />One Person’s Organ Donation could save 30 people or more.<br /> Age is not a factor in organ donation.<br /> Donation can be the most self-less thing you can do for someone. <br /> Organ and Tissue Donation can offer another person a second chance at life. <br />
  6. 6. HOW TO DONATE<br />Each Donor can save 30 or more people with their <br />organ and tissue donation.<br />Register with your state to become an organ donor. <br />Indicate you are an organ donator on your driver’s license. <br />Sign a donor card –Carry it with you.<br />
