4. Romans 8:1, No Condemnation
• NAU Romans 8:1 Therefore there is now no condemnation for
those who are in Christ Jesus.
• NJB Romans 8:1 Thus, condemnation will never come to those
who are in Christ Jesus,
• Our sins have been forgiven and are continually being forgiven
and forgotten.
Christians do not have to hang our head, we can lift up our heads
and rejoice over what Jesus Christ accomplished.

transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made
you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our
transgressions, 14 having canceled out the certificate of debt
consisting of decrees against us, which was hostile to us; and He

7. Romans 8:1, “in Christ”
• NAU Romans 8:1… no condemnation … in Christ Jesus.
• The phrases “in Christ”, “in Christ Jesus”, “in Jesus”, “in Him” are used
hundreds of times in the New Testament. However the unique use of it to
describe our position in Christ is almost unique to Paul.
• Jesus prayed in John 17:21 that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are
in Me and I in You, that they also may be in Us, so that the world may believe
that You sent Me.
• NAU Romans 6:11… alive to God in Christ Jesus.
• NAU 1 Thessalonians 2:14 …. the churches of God in Christ Jesus that are in
Judea… [our geographical location is secondary]
• Our position “in Christ” is a very strong plank in our belief of the internal
security of everyone who has received the Lord Jesus Christ.
• Would the Father allow the body of Christ to slip through his fingers and fall
into hell forever? How about the bride of Christ, to whom He has promised
eternal life? How about His church?

8. “in Christ”
• If God has placed you “in Christ”, and God does not make
mistakes, and it is not possible for you to have placed
yourself “in Christ,” then how safe are those who have
trusted in Christ?

sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-
nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost
until he finds it?

11. Romans 8:2, The Law Of Christ
• NAU Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus
has set you free from the law of sin and of death.
• NAU 1 Corinthians 9:21 to those who are without law, as
without law, though not being without the law of God but
under the law of Christ, so that I might win those who are
without law.

• NAU Romans 8:8 and those who are in the flesh cannot
please God. 9 However, you are not in the flesh but in
the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But
if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not
belong to Him.
• NAU 1 Thessalonians 4:1 Finally then, brethren, we
request and exhort you in the Lord Jesus, that as you
received from us instruction as to how you ought to
walk and please God (just as you actually do walk), that
you excel still more.

17. Romans 8:9, “God dwells in you”
• NAU Romans 8:9 However, you are not in the flesh but
in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you.
But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does
not belong to Him.
• The apostle Paul refers to this concept of God dwelling
“in you” more than any other Bible writer. About 33
times.
• I'm sure glad the Scriptures make this point abundantly
clear, because I struggle with the idea of infinite Deity
indwelling a sinner like me.

18. Romans 8:9, The Holy Spirit

promising the gift of the Holy Spirit to those at the "moment" they
trust Jesus as their Lord and Savior and believe? Or does the Spirit

• The Holy Spirit comes to live permanently in a believer at the exact
time of conversion. . . . if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he
does not belong to Him. —Romans 8:9 While Peter was still speaking
these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to
the message. —Acts 10:44
• And receiving the Holy Spirit is permanent. . . . the Holy Spirit of God,
by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. —

Who Raised Jesus From The Dead
• NAU Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of Him who raised

Jesus from the dead will also give life to your mortal
bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.

29. Are You a Romans 8:14 Christian?

Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, because
those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. - Romans 8:13-14
• Joshua and Caleb are described in Scripture as men who had a different
spirit. They were two of the 12 spies sent into the Promised Land to
determine if it could be taken, as God had promised it to them. The other
ten gave a bad report that instilled fear in the people, which ultimately
caused a rebellion. This resulted in an entire generation dying in the
desert. Joshua and Caleb were the only two who were led by the Spirit of
God, versus the spirit of fear. They were the only ones to enter the
Promised Land from their generation.
• Are you a person led by the Spirit? The verse above tells us that those who
are led by the Spirit are sons of God…”

30. Are You a Romans 8:14 Christian?

• Caleb has a different spirit and follows Me wholeheartedly, I will bring
him into the land he went to, and his descendants will inherit it" (Num.
14:24). Caleb was a Romans 8:14 man! The Spirit led him. He was not
led by fear.
• Many of us have failed to enter into our own Promised Land because we
have failed to be led by the Spirit rather than by fear. Fear prevents us
from entering into what God has promised for each of us. God has
reserved an inheritance for us that is exceedingly good. God described
the Promised Land as a land of milk and honey. Our own Promised Land
is the same. But you must be led by the Spirit to enter in. You cannot be
led by fear, reason and analysis, or even skill. The Spirit must lead you.
• Commit yourself to being a Romans 8:14 man or woman. Then you will
enter into the land God has promised for you.

speaker frightened me by saying that “God is not your good buddy, he is
not your friend”. After I watched this video I felt like I lost my only true
friend, and it made me feel like I’ve shamed God by praying to him as
my friend as well as my Lord…
• A. One of the advantages of the Internet is that it gives us access to a
much wider variety of information than ever before. But it requires that
we have a stronger foundation of belief so we can discern what the
Bible teaches from something that’s just someone’s opinion. Otherwise
we risk becoming hopelessly confused. In Acts 17:11 Paul commended
the Bereans for searching the scriptures daily to prove that what he was
teaching them was the truth. If you do that in this case you’ll find that
God has given us the authority to become His children, (John 1:12) and
to call Him our Father (Gal. 4:6). You’ll find that Jesus called us His
friends (John 15:12-15) and that God says we’re not to fear Him (Rom.
8:15-16). And you’ll conclude that while it’s right to respect God, it’s
also right to think of Him as a friend and to desire a close and personal
relationship with Him.
