Don’t think for a minute that you can simply create a Facebook page and then you’re done. In fact it would be counter-productive if people try to reach out to you through your social media accounts, only to find that it’s not been updated in months and that no-one’s around to reply to their message. Ongoing management is essential, and although there is a moderate amount of time involved, it’s well worth the effort and there’s nothing to stop you from outsourcing aspects of the work.

Social Media Marketing Strategy

  1. 1. Social Media Crusher Become a market leader.
  2. 2. While SEO proves to be crucial to driving traffic to websites, social media plays an important role in boosting SEO.
  3. 3. BECOME A MARKET LEADER How to be on the cutting edge: Distribute content. A market leader consumes what’s new, makes the call as to what’s coming down the pipe, and uses the social media to get the message out. Engage with clients. Get in there and meet the clients where they are. Be transparent & real. Be an open book. Let the results speak for themselves.
  4. 4. What’s the secret? Here are some key steps to consider to position yourself as a market leader:
  5. 5. Tell your story Prospects and clients are always going to want to know how you got to where you are.
  6. 6. Conduct interviews It creates that Halo Effect of “he’s-talking-with-the-expertstherefore-he-must-be-an-expert-too.”
  7. 7. Pick a side It’s always good to take a hard line on something and stand on principle. Make bold statements. Engage in public debates.
  8. 8. Run events Get your name out there by running public events like speaking tours and presentations. Establish your expertise by helping others.
  9. 9. Document results Doing so will provide you evidence for your business’s authority in the industry. To further your credibility, gather testimonials from clients.
  10. 10. Create your own language Speaking in your own language will help you, your products, and services stand out in the industry.
  11. 11. Get content syndicated You might end up in publications and your work, be steadily cited -- just perfect for earning that expert status.
  12. 12. WATCH YOU How to stay updated: By tailoring the news you’re consuming. Google Reader What are the biggest blogs in your industry? Get the XML feed & use an app that will collate all those blogs into one place. Google Alerts Set your big keywords in Google Alerts to get notifications. As it happens, you can react to all the information being sent to you.
  13. 13. WEB 2.0: THE WAY I SEE IT Social Media is not for everyone. It requires an ongoing communication Meet the clients where they are. Don’t expect them to seek you out and flock to your website. Engage them with valuable content and establish a rapport. Show that you care. Thoughtfully respond to comments and address questions and concerns your prospects and clients might have.
  14. 14. TWITTER Engage with clients. Twitter is perfect for quick & easy communication. Keep them informed. Provide updates (ex. upcoming workshops, seminars, and so on). Share industry news. Stay on top of the game. Don’t follow everyone. Follow people you want to keep in touch and up-to-date with.
  15. 15. FACEBOOK Bond with your clients. Connect with them on a personal level. Let them see your lifestyle. Why do people use Facebook? To engage, not to get pitched offers. So don’t spam their feeds with any. Run competitions. Get people involved. This will get you a wider reach.
