  4. 4. Get Kids Moving <ul><li>In K-12 Physical Education programs, the main focus is to get kids moving. </li></ul><ul><li>95% of the time they spend in class they should be physically active. </li></ul><ul><li>Great channel for energized kids to exert energy. </li></ul>

Lifetime Activity <ul><li>A way to get kids to enjoy physical activity is to teach them a lifetime activity. </li></ul><ul><li>This could be a team or individual sport. </li></ul><ul><li>If a child finds an activity they enjoy, they are more likely to continue this activity as an adult. </li></ul>

Increase Health <ul><li>Burns body fat </li></ul><ul><li>Increase in muscular strength </li></ul><ul><li>Increase in muscular endurance </li></ul><ul><li>Provides a better body composition </li></ul><ul><li>Increase in cardiovascular endurance </li></ul><ul><li>Good for your heart </li></ul>

  8. 8. Kids <ul><li>I enjoy working with kids of all ages. I currently coach football at the 9 th grade level. Obesity <ul><li>Over the past three decades, the childhood obesity rate has </li></ul><ul><li>more than doubled for preschool children aged 2-5 years and adolescents aged 12-19 years </li></ul><ul><li>tripled for children aged 6-11 years. </li></ul><ul><li>At present, approximately nine million children over 6 years of age are considered obese. </li></ul>

Time <ul><li>60 minutes per day of physical activity that is developmentally appropriate, enjoyable, and involves a variety of activities </li></ul><ul><li>Can be accumulated throughout the day in school, during PE and recess, during intramural sports, and in before-school and after-school programs. </li></ul>

Health Concerns <ul><li>Getting the proper mount of physical activity along with the proper diet can prevent these illnesses/diseases: </li></ul><ul><li>coronary heart disease </li></ul><ul><li>heart attack </li></ul><ul><li>type 2 diabetes </li></ul><ul><li>colon cancer </li></ul><ul><li>high blood pressure </li></ul><ul><li>Obesity </li></ul>
