  2. 2. Know the company <ul><li>Do a little research before your interview. </li></ul><ul><li>Find out about the company or place of business. State something positive about the place of business. </li></ul><ul><li>EX: “I see that Jamba Juice buys only organic products” </li></ul>
  3. 3. PRACTICE <ul><li>Practice answering question in the mirror. </li></ul><ul><li>Stay relaxed and always look the interviewer in the eye. </li></ul><ul><li>Be yourself ! </li></ul><ul><li>Practice with a friend or parent </li></ul>
  4. 4. Dress the part <ul><li>Take into account where you are interviewing. Suit and tie or clean pressed slacks or skirt? </li></ul><ul><li>Clean groomed hair. </li></ul><ul><li>Clean shoes. </li></ul><ul><li>No excessive jewelry </li></ul><ul><li>No perfume or cologne. </li></ul>
  5. 5. Get there early <ul><li>Arrive 10-15 minutes before your interview. Any earlier is too early unless </li></ul><ul><li>instructed to do so. </li></ul><ul><li>Bring a note pad and paper. </li></ul><ul><li>Bring your questions. </li></ul>

Make a good impression <ul><li>Shake his or her hand firmly but not a vice grip </li></ul><ul><li>Look them in the eyes </li></ul><ul><li>Smile and say something enthusiastic like </li></ul><ul><li>“Hi Mrs. Spencer it is nice to meet you. </li></ul><ul><li>Wait to be asked to sit. </li></ul><ul><li>End well. Thank them for their time and tell them that you look forward to hearing from them in near future. </li></ul>
  7. 7. Answer Well. <ul><li>Answer question directly. </li></ul><ul><li>Don’t carry on. Gather your thought and answer questions directly. </li></ul><ul><li>Remember look the interviewer in the eye. </li></ul><ul><li>Be honest </li></ul>
  8. 8. Ask Questions <ul><li>It is okay to ask questions-to a point. </li></ul><ul><li>Take notes on your writing pad as the interview progresses. Bring in questions you may have had before the interview started). </li></ul><ul><li>When the time is right (the interviewer will ask: “ Do you have any question for me”?) </li></ul><ul><li>It is okay to ask the hourly pay. </li></ul>
  9. 9. Follow up <ul><li>Send a thank you note thanking the interviewer for their time. </li></ul><ul><li>It is okay to follow up with a phone call. </li></ul><ul><li>Customary time is 24-48 hours. But don’t keep calling. If the manager tells you he or she will get back to you then wait. Continuing to call will take you out of the race. </li></ul>
  10. 10. Be yourself <ul><li>Relax and be yourself. </li></ul><ul><li>You’ll be nervous and this is okay. </li></ul><ul><li>Just focus on being relaxed. </li></ul><ul><li>Bring copies of your cover letter and resume. </li></ul><ul><li>Bring a copy of your references ( three is good). </li></ul>
