  2. 2. What is Social Networking? A social networking service is a platformto build social networks or social relationsamong people who, for example, shareinterests, activities, backgrounds, or real-life connections. Examples of social networking : Facebook Twitter Myspace
  3. 3. Every minute of the day 100,000 tweets are sent. 2 million queries are searched on google. 48 hours of videos are uploaded toyoutube. 684,478 pieces of content are shared onfacebook. 3,600 photos are shared on instagram. 40% socialize online than they do face toface.
  4. 4. The Positives of SocialNetworking on students Social networking has increased the rate andquality of collaboration for students. Whichcan increase productivity and help themlearn how to work well in groups. By spending so much time working with newtechnologies ,students develop morefamiliarity with computers and otherelectronic devices. The ease and speed with which users canupload Pictures , videos or stories has resultedin a greater amount of sharing of creativeworks.
  5. 5. Negatives of socialNetworking on students Many students rely on the accessibility ofinformation. That means a reduced focus onlearning and retaining information. Students who attempt to multi-task, checkingsocial media sites while studying, showreduced academic performance. The more time students spend on social sites,the less time they spend socializing in person.Social networking are less able to effectivelycommunicate in person.
  6. 6. Social Networking andParenting Moderating their access to social media isone excellent method. Provide ample time for face –to-face socialinteraction. Ex. Play games together, familydinners, and watching movies together. Paying attention to their academic progressand addressing any issues will go long waytowards keeping the negative aspects ofsocial media from influencing their studies.

  8. 8. Interview of Rochelle I interviewed Rochelle Spires. She is 16years old. She is in the 10th grade. She is very educated and loves school.She is very mature and enjoys being ableto give you advice. I interviewed Rochelle because she isgood in school and she is very into thesocial networking life.

Interview Rochelle said she feels that social networkingcan be a positive cause into contactingfamily, and staying connected with friendsthat may have moved away from you. The negative effect to her about socialnetworking is cyber bullying , suicide attempts, and lost of a lot of people lives. Rochelle also mentioned that SocialNetworking is a positive valuable to studentsbecause they can interact and cometogether to express ideas

Interview Rochelle said if Social Networking didntexist people can focus more on betterthings in life. Rochelle says she doesnt have an issuefocusing with school and still beingconnected to Social Networking life. She feels Social networking should havetheir limits and what they provide to uskids being able to use it.
