CoSign Digital Signatures For Healthcare

  2. 2. On either Word or PDF documents, a physician may use his digital signature license to capture the patient’s electronic/graphical signature and then countersign and seal the form using his digital signature.
  3. 3. When the patient is ready to sign, the physician right-clicks on the signature field and selects Sign.
  4. 4. The physician is challenged for his User name and password.
  5. 5. The patient’s signature will be captured using a Tablet PC or mouse.
  6. 6. Once her signature is captured, she clicks OK.
  7. 7. The patient’s signature appears on the document, and the physician may now countersign the consent form.
  8. 8. He right-clicks on his signature field and selects Sign.
  9. 9. After selecting his signature image, he clicks Sign.
  10. 10. The consent form is electronically signed by the patient and now digitally signed and sealed by the physician.
  11. 11. Digital signatures are the only standard established for electronic signatures, which guarantees signer identity, intent, and document integrity.
  12. 12. CoSign facilitates compliance with HIPAA Security regulations that call for procedures to corroborate that information has not been altered.
  13. 13. CoSign ensures that electronically transmitted information is not improperly modified without detection.

  16. 16. The certificate is valid, and anyone can confirm the physician’s identity.
  17. 17. The digitally signed form can now be added to the patient's electronic medical record, whether that takes the form of an EMR, a document management system, or any other type of electronic archive.
