Crowd funding on Indiegogo for South Africans

  1. 1. Crowd Funding with IndieGoGo, Social Media and Traditional PR By Pascal Schmitz from Amariam Pictures
  2. 2. Why IndieGoGO? • Allows South African Bank accounts to be linked to the campaign • You don’t have to make target unlike Kickstarter. 4% charge if you make target and 9% charge if you don’t make target • IGG guides you through and teaches you about the process of crowd funding. You can then build your own Rand based site (www.mygate.co.za) • IGG has great tracking tools for your “crowd” with specific data for each team members contribution towards the campaigns marketing vs. Kickstarter which has only two variables: how much and who… • IGG has a large audience already in place with thousands of daily views and 2670 Campaigns in the Film category alone (indiegogo.com receives 36936 page views per day -source www.findwebstats.com/indiegogo.com) • Tip: Paypal charges another 5% for funds that go through them, so try drive donations through direct credit card transactions . You need a FNB account to receive Paypal donations in SA
  3. 3. Shady Valley •Raised $10,405 in 60 days •Got almost 2,000 visitors on the site •Hit page No. 1 in the films category many times during campaign
