  2. 2. Imperial is consistently ranked among the top universities in the world, ranking 5th in the world (and 3rd in Europe) in the 2013 QS World University Rankings and 8th in the world (and 3rd in Europe) in the 2012 Times Higher Education World University Rankings.

It is situated in an area of South Kensington known as Albertopolis which has a high concentration of cultural and academic institutions, including the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, the Victoria and Albert Museum, theRoyal College of Music, the Royal College of Art, the Royal Geographical Society and the Royal Albert Hall.

  5. 5. Academy Structure Imperial College offers undergraduate and graduate education, research and teaching taking divided into three faculties, each headed by a director. The faculties are: Engineering, Medicine and Natural Sciences. Besides the three faculties, there is a business school and a department of humanities whose purpose is to provide language courses electives and away from the fields of science students from other faculties and departments. Students are encouraged to take these classes either for credit or in their free time. Humanities courses cover a wide range of topics including philosophy, ethics in science and engineering, history, modern literature and drama, art in the twentieth century and movie studios. The language courses are available: French, German, Spanish, Italian, Japanese, Russian, Arabic and Mandarin Chinese.
