Introduction: motivator <ul><li>What is a motivator? </li></ul><ul><li>A sentence, a quotation, an anecdote, or a rhetorical question which engages the reader’s attention </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Scales represent justice, doves symbolize peace, and the stars and stripes embody the United States of America. </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Can symbolism help an author portray a deeper meaning to his readers? </li></ul></ul>

Introduction: Blueprint <ul><li>The thesis or blueprint guides the reader through the body of the paper, including the TAG (title of work, author’s name and genre of the work) and the THREE ideas written in parallel structure. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>In Romeo and Juliet a skull and crossbones, a tortoise shell, and gold ducats represent the poverty and the desperation of the Apothecary. </li></ul></ul>
  6. 6. Body paragraphs <ul><li>Using the IQC method of quotation integration, select appropriate material from the novel to prove or support the sub topic of this paragraph. Transition words and phrases will connect ideas and paragraphs. Each quotation will be Introduced, Quoted as part of a sentence, and Commented upon. </li></ul><ul><ul><li>TWO or more such quotations will be used for each body paragraph to support or prove the subtopic which supports the topic of the paper. </li></ul></ul>
