Conclusion
Beside lots of other topics (definitions, legal issues, impact on
society and economy, et al.) the following ones should be taken into
account when planning Open (Government) Data projects (local,
regional, nationwide, EU-wide)
• Open Government Data is important for the digital infrastructure
• The 5th star of Tim Berners Lee‘s model should be the vision
• Harmonisation of data / information structure is important
• Harmonisation of standards ensures interoperability
• Harmonisation of Meta Data structure is a must-have
(A unified method to describe the data)
• This harmonisations should be internationally compatible!

Open Government Data (OGD) Austria
About the initiative (April 2010 - May 2011) – http://www.opendata.at
Our common goal is to open government (non-personal) data for
re-use in a human- and machine-readable (preferably open) format
similar to existing initiatives and activities in US, UK or Australia.
The OGD Austria Initiative works in tight co-operation with the
public sector in Austria – the local, regional and national government,
federal agencies and organisations. Furthermore the initiative works
along the existing eGovernment initiatives and activities of the
Austrian government.
The Initiative works closely with other European Open Data
Initiatives – in the areas of co-operation, lessons learned, best
practises, R&D etc. At the moment the OGD Austria works with
initiatives from Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, Spain and the UK.
