Swain TITLE: Foundation Restorations: Treatment of Non- Vital Teeth I PURPOSE: This is part 2 of a 3-part lecture series that is meant to familiarize the student with foundation restorations (cores). The idea of a ‘Restoration Continuum’ will form the basis for helping the student with the selection of the appropriate treatment when planning a case. There will also be a focus on indications and contraindications of different foundation restorations for non-vital teeth as well as a brief overview of appropriate clinical technique. SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: To Discuss: 1. The decision making process for non-vital teeth 2. Indications and procedures for radicular amalgam cores 3. Some thoughts on amalgam bonding 4. Indications and procedures for Pre-formed post and cores 5. Appropriate post lengths 6. Cautions for pre-formed post and cores 7.
