It is my pleasure to wish each and every one of you a very good morning and to extend a warm welcome to you to HOSPIMedica THAILAND 2005. We are indeed honoured by your presence here for this Opening Ceremony. 2. This is the second time that HOSPIMedica THAILAND is held in this thriving city of Bangkok. This year’s exhibition has grown bigger by almost 30 percent and this goes to show the importance of Thailand and the Indochina region to the medical and healthcare industry. As the organizer, we are optimistic that the exhibition will grow even further in years to come and it will continue to bring global manufacturers and suppliers closer to this region.

HOSPIMedica THAILAND’s primary objective is to update Thailand and the region’s healthcare industry on the latest trends and developments in technology and product innovations and medical enhancement. It offers a unique communication platform for visitors to get into closer contact with world leading medical and healthcare providers and manufacturers. 4. This year’s exhibition has attracted 220 exhibiting companies from 20 countries including participating groups from Austria, Belgium, China, Germany, Pakistan, Singapore, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. 5. Exhibiting companies present here today will showcase a wide array of practical solutions and initiatives, and leading edge products, equipment and services for both in-patient and out- patient care. 6. Industry practitioners, exporters and importers from across Thailand and the surrounding Southeast Asian region will be able to take advantage of the exhibition to meet and source for the latest in medical, diagnostic, healthcare, pharmaceutical and rehabilitation equipment and supplies. 5,000 visitors are expected to be present at this 3-day exhibition. 7. To complement the exhibition, a Stroke Conference is organized, featuring presentations by Prasat Neurological Institute, The Neurological Society of Thailand, Thai Stroke Society, The Pharmaceutical Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage (Ph.A.T.), and The Thai Rehabilitation Medicine Association. 8. The conference has attracted eminent medical professionals who will provide up-to-date information on medical and nursing management of stroke patient to physicians, nurses, pharmacists, paramedics and other healthcare professionals who treat patients and families in all phases of stroke treatment from the emergency department through rehabilitation.

We would like to thank the Private Hospital Association, The Pharmaceutical Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage and The Nurses Association of Thailand for accrediting physicians, pharmacists and nurses who attend the conference with CME, CPE and CNEU points respectively. 10.We are very grateful of the Ministry of Public Health’s support and for its pro-active role in HOSPIMedica THAILAND. Such support adds tremendous value and emphasis to both the exhibition and the conference. 11.
