To the congregation at Deerfoot Church of Christ, from your Elders:
The shepherds at Deerfoot Church of Christ continue to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic and its impact on
our worship and other assemblies. In light of Governor Kay Ivey’s announcement on Friday, May 8th, the
Deerfoot Church of Christ will move into the next phase of COVID-19 response for church assemblies on
Sunday May 31st.
After much prayer, deliberation, and input from the deacons, ministers and many of you, we have a plan. It
won’t be perfect, and we will tweak it and communicate it where necessary. We greatly appreciate your
continued patience and support.
SUNDAY ASSEMBLIES
In observance of the government’s guidelines regarding 6ft social distancing, we will have a limited seating
in the auditorium for approximately 100 people, with overflow in the fellowship hall. To accommodate this
number, we will have three in-person services on Sunday morning at 8:00 am, 9:30 am, and 11 am with the
9:30 am service streaming live on our website, YouTube channel and Facebook page for those worshipping
from home. We ask households to sit together, maintain the 6FSD between other households and
STRONGLY SUGGEST the wearing of face protection (to be removed for the Lord’s Supper).
If you are sick, if your health is vulnerable, or if you’re concerned about your health as we meet together,
please stay home. You will be part of our worship assembly by viewing live stream during services.
We will provide individually packaged Lord’s Supper unleavened bread & fruit of the vine at the doors
leading in to the auditorium prior to services, partaking of the Supper at the appropriate service time. Empty
containers can be properly disposed at the building exits. At the end of service, the same men serving the
Supper will be taking up the collection for the saints at the same auditorium doors.
Prior to and at the conclusion of the service, please fellowship outside, allowing for the 6FSD for others to
move freely through the pathways, hallways, and lobby. We will be cleaning the building after each service.
Which Service Will You and Your Family Attend?
To ensure we maintain proper social distancing, we ask each family to let us know which worship service
they prefer to attend. The survey can be submitted electronically here:
https://forms.gle/vvWhoNnVoTp6BRSE9
A printed copy of this survey will also be mailed this week to every member, which can be printed and re-
turned to the church building either by mail or between 8 am and 10 am Saturday when you pick up your
communion supplies.
Sunday Bible Classes
The adult Bible class on Zoom will be moved to Sundays at 5 pm and will be streamed live on our website,
YouTube channel and Facebook page.
Building Cleaning Volunteers Needed
As you can imagine, three worship services will require a bit of coordination to provide for each services
(song leading, prayers, scripture reading, ushers, audio/video), safety teams, and cleaning. We will need to
clean the auditorium, lobby, hallways, restrooms and fellowship hall after each service. Volunteers are
needed.
We Love You
Thank you again for your kindness, generosity, and support. We love you.
PLEASE, regardless of your personal feelings toward COVID-19 and the response, help us adhere to these
guidelines, including 6FSD, to ensure each other’s well-being and in keeping with Roman 13:1. We look
forward to the day we can hug and shake hands. If you have any question or concerns, please do not hesi-
tate to reach out to one of the elders or email us at elders@deerfootcoc.com. Galatians 6:9-10

Looking Unto God
Isaiah foretells the Babylonian captivity in
chapters 36-39, but in chapter 40 he offers hope telling the
Israelites, “Behold your God.” We have talked of the need
to see God as the God who has supremacy over nature. But
we also need to see our God as the God of all knowledge!
Paul asked the question, “For who hath known the mind of
the Lord? Or who hath been his counsellor?” (Rom. 11:34).
Clearly the implied answer is “No one.” No one has taught
God; He has never asked advice; there is no problem for
which God has no solution. Who has been God’s counselor,
or has taught Him knowledge? None have taught God; He
has never asked for advice for there is no problem for which
God has no solution. In Psalms 147:5 we learn that, “Great
is our Lord, and of great power: his understanding is infi-
nite.” There is no limit to the knowledge of God. There is
nothing that He does not know. Solomon, the wisest man
alive said of God, “The eyes of the LORD are in every
place, beholding the evil and the good” (Proverbs 15:3).
The psalmist declared of God, “He counts the number of the
stars; He calls them all by name” (Psalms 147:4). There are
billions upon billions of stars and God knows everyone and
has given to each of them their name! Man can’t do this. In
Genesis 15:5 Moses said of Abraham, “And he brought him
forth abroad, and said, 'Look now toward heaven, and tell
the stars, if thou be able to number them'.” Man is not able
to number all the stars, let alone have names for them. Why
then does man say: “My way is hid from the Lord” (Isa.
40:27)? If man really understands the knowledge of God, he
will not try to hide his sins from God. Adam and Eve tried
but found they could not do this. “And they heard the voice
of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the
day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the pres-
ence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the gar-
den” (Gen. 3:8). Cain could not hide from God what he had
done to his brother. “And the LORD said unto Cain, Where
is Abel thy brother? And he said, 'I know not: Am I my
brother's keeper?'" 10 And he said, What hast thou done?
the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the
ground” (Gen. 4:9, 10). The woman who had been healed of
an issue of blood when she touched the hem of Jesus’ gar-
ment tried to hide but could not. Jesus realized that some-
one had touched Him and the text tells us , “Now when the
woman saw that she was not hidden, she came trembling;
and falling down before Him, she declared to Him in the
presence of all the people the reason she had touched Him
and how she was healed immediately” (Lk. 8:47). Many
men have successfully hidden things from their fellow man
but they make a tragic mistake when he begins to believe
that he can hide anything from God. “These things hast thou
done, and I kept silence; thou thoughtest that I was alto-
gether such an one as thyself: but I will reprove thee, and
set them in order before thine eyes” (Psa. 50:21).

Memorial Day
Brothers and Sisters,
This is an unusual time—a difficult time for
many in our country and in the world. We pray
that good will come out of this and things will
soon get back to normal.
Plans for PTP 2020 have not changed at this
point, and we will keep you posted as the
situation develops.
Since most are spending more time at home,
and many worship services are canceled, we
want to provide a resource for everyone to use
and share. PTP365 will be free for a limited
time!
