The coney makes his home in the rocks where he is protected from his enemies. If we want to find protection from our enemies we need to make our home in the Rock. In his first letter to the Corinthians Paul said, “Moreover, brethren, I do not want you to be unaware that all our fathers were under the cloud, all passed through the sea, 2 all were baptized into Moses in the cloud and in the sea, 3 all ate the same spiritual food, 4 and all drank the same spiritual drink. For they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them, and that Rock was Christ” (1 Cor. 10:1-4). If we want to overcome Satan we need to be in Christ; if we want to overcome sin we need to be in Christ and if we want to overcome death we need to be in Christ! The third lesson we need to learn from one of God’s creation is the need to cooperate in our work and service to God. Proverbs 30:27 tells us, “The locusts have no king, yet go they forth all of them by bands.” The Hebrew liter- ally says that they go forth “gathered together.” The individ- ual locust is not a fearful thing, but it is when they band to- gether that they become a formidable and frightening thing. God used them as a weapon to punish nations that were disobedient to Him. Locusts were the eighth plague that God brought upon Egypt to force them to set Israel free. In Exodus 10 we are told that “So Moses and Aaron came in to Pharaoh and said to him, "Thus says the LORD God of the Hebrews: 'How long will you refuse to humble yourself before Me? Let My people go, that they may serve Me. 4 'Or else, if you refuse to let My people go, behold, tomorrow I will bring locusts into your territory. 5 'And they shall cover the face of the earth, so that no one will be able to see the earth; and they shall eat the residue of what is left, which remains to you from the hail, and they shall eat every tree which grows up for you out of the field. 6 'They shall fill your houses, the houses of all your servants, and the houses of all the Egyptians-which neither your fathers nor your fathers' fathers have seen, since the day that they were on the earth to this day” (Ex. 10:3-6). When Pharaoh refused to heed God’s warning, God brought the locusts which cov- ered the face of the whole land so that no green thing re- mained. Later God would use the same power, the power of millions of locusts working together, to punish Israel. Joel 1 is a prophecy of the plague of locusts that will come upon Israel and it will be unlike anything that they or their fathers have ever seen. It is amazing how that without a king to command or guide them the locust become such a powerful force that bring harm to the people and to the animals. What a lesson to us on the need for working together in our ser- vice to God. A key to success for Christians is cooperation. Satan knows that if he can keep Christians divided he can keep them from success. Division keeps people from obey- ing the gospel. In His prayer to God in John 17:21, Jesus said, “that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.” -to be continued GUESTS Deerfoot Church of Christ Senior Recognition Please join us today after the 10:30 service for a short program honoring the Graduating seniors. David A. Bray III Sarah Evans Jack Self Christian VanHorn World Bible School The WVBS Online Bible School is designed to provide students with an online, compre- hensive, in-depth study of the Bible. The lessons are pure non-denominational teach- ing based on an accurate "drawing out" of what the Bible teaches, not reading into the text what someone might think it teaches. The courses cover every book in the Bible, plus four additional subjects which help you in your understanding of the scriptures (Christian Evidences, Hermeneutics, Greek and The Bible from God to Us). The school is designed for anyone who wants a focused, organized and thorough study of the Bible. https://school.wvbs.org/ In addition to the School curriculum, WVBS also offers numerous other topical video studies for free online. These addi- tional studies are not part of the WVBS Online School curriculum, but they do pro- vide Bible-based teaching on a wide variety of topics.
