While traveling, it is not uncommon to walk through metal detectors at check points. The emergency room, the courthouse, and every airport in the country will require you to remove your belt, shoes, breastplate and helmet upon entering. Ok, so if you were physically wearing a breastplate and helmet they would make you remove them. You never know what you will see while travelling at Knight… Last week Dennis Washington shared a sermon clip starting that the world will expect us to remove our breastplate of righteousness in the workplace or school. This I refer to as the “meddle” detectors of the world. These are “meddling” troublemakers who will seek to remove the armor of God from Christians. Paul is clear what we are to wear as Christians. He gives no indication as to a time when these can come off. “Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth, and having put on the breast- plate of righteousness, and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace. In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one; and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God” (Ephesians 6:13-17). As we walk through these “meddle” detectors, we will be called by the world to remove truth, righteous- ness, readiness of peace, faith, and especially the word of God. We cannot give in to those who would meddle with our responsibility to love God first. We must tell the world proudly that we wear the Gospel armor with pride. But know that if you do not remove them when challenged, you may endure persecution and suffering for the cause of Christ. “Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness’ sake, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. “Blessed are you when others revile you and persecute you and utter all kinds of evil against you falsely on my account. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward is great in heaven, for so they persecuted the prophets who were before you” (Matthew 5:10-12). While traveling anywhere this week, you will be passing through meddle detectors. Will you notice them when they appear? Will you recognize their pressure for conformity? Will you continue to wear your Gospel Armor with pride? A note from the Harp. The Meddle Detectors of the World

No one comes to the Father except through Me“ (Jn. 14:6). To the Jew each of these would be full of association and promise. For example the Old Testament is full of the idea of a way of travel and life. In Psalms 27:11 David prayed to God saying, “Teach me Your way, O LORD, And lead me in a smooth path, be- cause of my enemies.” Moses commanded the Jews that they were to turn neither to the left or to the right but to walk in the way God had com- manded. He wrote in Deut. 5:32, 33 saying, “Therefore you shall be careful to do as the LORD your God has commanded you; you shall not turn aside to the right hand or to the left. 33 "You shall walk in all the ways which the LORD your God has commanded you, that you may live and that it may be well with you, and that you may prolong your days in the land which you shall possess.” Likewise the Messianic prophet Isaiah spoke of the way in which he told the people, “Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, ‘This is the way, walk in it,’ Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left” (Isa. 30:21 NKJV). And again in Isaiah 35:8 We read, “A highway shall be there, and a road, And it shall be called the Highway of Holi- ness. The unclean shall not pass over it, But it shall be for others. Whoever walks the road, al- though a fool, Shall not go astray.” The New Testament spoke of such away also. In fact Christianity was known as the Way. Saul of Tarsus had gone to the High Priest and “asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.” But Jesus goes beyond this. He does not say, “I show you the way” or even “I open for you the way” but “I am the way.” For exam- ple: We may direct a person by giving directions by word of mouth. We may give them a map with the way marked and still a person may get lost. But if we say, “I know the way, come and I will take you there,” then the last chance of their being lost is re- moved. We then, become, at least for that person, the way. The Hebrew background for Jesus’ claim to be “the truth” is also important. According to Psalms 25:10, “All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth, To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.” - to be continued June 13– Joey Sparks -Love June 20– Joshua Posey -Attitude June 27 –Fellowship -Fellowship July 11– Kyle Butt -Homes July 18- Scott Harp –Personal Evan- gelism July 25- Serge Shoemaker –Prayer August 8– John McMath -Worship August 15– Austin Johnson –Bible Study August 22– Drew Kiser –Image September 30—David Shannon FHU Singing 6-15 Collinsville Church of Christ 6-22 Oxford Church of Christ 6-29 West Huntsville Church of Christ 6-29 Lincoln Church of Christ 7-6 Greenfield Church of Christ 7-13 Central Church of Christ 7-19,20,21 Middle Tennessee Song Leading Workshop 7-20 Talladega Church of Christ 7-20 Glendale Church of Christ 7-27 Grant Street Church of Christ FOR THE MONTH OF JUNE MOST WANTED ITEMS: Peanut Butter, Jelly, Chili, Soups, Stews, Tuna, Beans, Canned Fruits, Canned Vegetables, Corn, Carrots, Green Beans, Canned Pasta, Canned Chicken, Vienna Sausage, Canned Hams, Peas, Sweet Potatoes, Beenie Weenie, Baked Beans.
