Romans 8:18-21 For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God. Genesis 3:7 Then the eyes of both were opened, and they knew that they were naked. And they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loincloths (belts). When Adam and Eve saw that they were uncovered, they felt shame. They had to do something to be clothed. The first fashion statement by the first tailor and seamstress was designed and created. They took fig leaves and sewed them together to ensure their nakedness problem would go away. Their efforts, as it seemed, had worked and they were covered by their newly made belts. There was one problem. The green material they used had always been green. It had only just been sub- jected to corruption. Death had begun its slow perversion but had not been detected. There was no reason for them to think that this was a poor material to use for their covering. Even as God spoke with them, their covering was drying out and would soon become useless. Jesus was the second Adam and He said, “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit by it- self, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing (John 15:4,5) Jesus is truth (John 14:6) and we must abide in Him. God made it possible for man to take hold of truth and wear it. “Therefore, take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand firm. Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth…” (Ephesians 6:13-14a). Jesus is this belt of truth. Adam and Eve chose a belt that would fade. This began their slow death and slow perversion of God’s per- fect creation. Their choice of material for their covering will forever serve as a symbol of the very corrup- tion man experienced that day. “The grass withers, the flower fades, but the word of our God will stand forever” (Isaiah 40:8). Today we are blessed beyond measure to be able to choose between these two belts. I choose the belt that will not fade, the Belt of Truth that’s been Tailor Made. TAILOR MADE

This was because they understood and they preached the necessity of the blood of Christ in man’s salvation. The writer of the letter to the Hebrews wrote that, “according to the law al- most all things are purified with blood, and with- out shedding of blood there is no remis- sion” (Heb. 9:22). No sins could be saved without the shedding of blood and that is why through the years millions of animals were sacrificed and untold gallons of blood were shed, it was not able to re- move a single sin. The writer of Hebrews continues in 10:4 saying “For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and goats could take away sins.” If man was to be saved it would require the blood of Jesus which He shed in His death on the cross. The apostle Paul declared in Romans 5L8, 9 – “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. 9 Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him.” Then again in his letter to the church at Ephesus this same apostle wrote, “In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace” (Eph. 1:17). The church is a blood bought institution and the church of the first century preached that it was purchased with the blood of Christ! The elders of the church at Ephesus were reminded of this in Paul’s admonition to them in their meeting at Mi- letus, recorded by Luke in Acts 20:28, to “Therefore take heed to yourselves and to all the flock, among which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to shepherd the church of God which He purchased with His own blood.” And the apostle Peter reminds us of this truth in his first general epistle, writing, “knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things, like silver or gold, from your aimless conduct received by tradition from your fathers, 19 but with the pre- cious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot.” There is no other name by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12) and that name is Jesus and it is only by His blood that anyone is saved. When one is baptized into the death of Jesus where His blood was shed, He is cleansed of His sins and is added to His church (Acts 2:41). - To be continued Join us for VBS on June 3-6 6:30 pm We are in need of cookies and boxed drinks.
