As I prepare for the lesson for Sunday, I am reminded of the importance of the circulation process in the body. I debated describing this in today’s sermon, but I would like to utilize it for this article (or maybe for both). When I asked last Sunday, “Can I get a show of hands for those who have received a card from Freida Gallagher?” -- I realize now I did not tell those present to look around, nor did those watching from home see the response. I want to tell you there was a sea of hands at both services. Hands were raised in the overflow, hands went up in the control room, and hands were raised in your living rooms (so I have been told). The circulation of a seemingly simply gesture over 50 years has left a lasting impact that I will not soon forget. Circulation in the body was witnessed as we discussed the blood that flows through our veins. The blood of Christ. Sometimes, we want to over-complicate our interactions with one another. Intimidated by trying to connect to others in our busy lives, it’s tempting to think reaching out is challenging. But let’s think simple. Doing something simple to let someone know you care is humble in intention, but profound in response. One small action, over time, makes a huge impact. As was quoted on Sunday, “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus his Son cleanses us from all sin” (1 John 1:7). “Walking in the light”, and “the blood of Jesus cleanses” are paralleled here which tells me his blood is still moving. It is still circulating and has not coagulated. It has not dried up! When we remain walking in the light in fellowship with one another, that blood is flowing through us. It is this challenging time of being separated that may cause that blood to slow down. We need you, and you need the Church to get that blood pumping and flowing. Consider what you can do to be connected. Will you take on the “Freida Gallagher Challenge” and reach out to 10 people this week with a call, text, email, or card? We just so happen to have a fresh new directory (perfect timing!). Maybe you can reach out to new members. Maybe call the office and get the addresses of re- cent visitors. What are you circulating? A Note from the Harp
